Part of the National Trust’s Fountains Abbey estate is Studley Royal, a very handsome Water Garden which comprises lakes and waterways, a deer park, and wild and wooded areas. The garden was created in 1718 and is one of the best surviving examples of a Georgian water garden in England.

During our wanderings, I was much taken by the sight of this willow tree… surely I can’t be the first person to imagine seeing a large mammal – a bison or elephant, perhaps – taking a drink at the water’s edge?

Best friends sharing and enjoying fun together.

On 23rd March 2013 the family favourite Cedar of Lebanon fell after heavy winter snow.

Thanks to a donation from Chirklands National Trust Association, the celebrated wood sculptor Simon O'Rourke was commissioned, and this design was chosen.

It commemorates the centenary of the start of the First World War and was completed in May 2014.

A new Cedar of Lebanon was planted by the Myddleton family nearby.

I took a photo of the sign :-) HBM :-)

If you are on Facebook, this gives work in progress photos - it took 2.5 days of effort, over a longer period time as a saw broke down.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of it round at the moment, and for good reason. But it is a very necessary commodity for a healthy society. So I would encourage more people to give it a go - after some critical thought.

The girl in the photo seems to have a good deal too much of it, on the other hand, and might find herself swept away by some unscrupulous lascivious handsome man intent on a night of wild passion with no thought for the following day.

If she's very lucky.

In your leader. I was totally rapt with these two horses. Wherever the leader would go the follower would follow. It had complete trust in the lead horse not to lead it into a hole. An amazing thing to see.

Grandfather & Granddoughter

Thursday we went to the Clergy House in Alfriston, Sussex, and snapped 4 chairs for my National Trust chairs project.

The property was the first to be purchased by the National Trust in 1896. Up until then, the NT had only acquired land for use by one and all.

It took us half an hour to earn his trust. First came a she, who hesitated. She went and brought her mate/friend who showed more valor and courage.

Shot on full manual - loved this experience of engaged photography

Was in my sister's computer room today and turned around to see Frodo "wedged" under her chair, sound asleep in front of her heater.

He often nestles under her chair, but today he was actually under the leg of her chair. Just goes to show how much he trusts us.

Sweet kitty-dreams little boy. You are a source of endless joy to both my sister and me. And the occasional photo op doesn't hurt either.

Looking down an avenue of trees the glasshouse at Clumber Park draws you in. It wasn't for me but Shirley was drawn to the display of 130 varieties of rhubarb.

Take my hand and trust it will be held tightly, loved, wanted, appreciated and adored.

This idea came to my mind instantly when I saw this dress, I knew that I wanted for some reason to create something about forgiveness. I wanted the pose to look uncomfortable, because forgiving can be uncomfortable too and sometimes nearly impossible.

Thanks so much for all the support! I really do appreciate it! 😊

One of the trickiest parts to my little California Highway Parties project was continually finding someone willing to drive my car while I climbed around inside (and outside) of it while taking pictures of people.

They'd have to:

-not get us into an accident that insurance wouldn't cover

-not get us stopped by the cops

-give us a bit of speed so we could get some wind blowing through the car

-take us to places that created good backgrounds

-not get us into an accident that would kill us all

So it was always people I trusted A LOT. My dad, my best assistant, one of my best friends...and a guy named Austin, once. Not sure how that one happened. Nice guy, but looking back, I'd only known him a little bit, poor choice for such awesome responsibility.

Really, I'm shocked nothing bad ever happened on those shoots. I was hanging out of the car, my subjects were hanging out of the car, it was a real hoot.

Tarren here, at one point, had at least half her body on the other side of that window, taking in the weekend air, not a care in the world. It created in people such a feeling of exuberance...sure, we all could've ended up in a mangled twist of metal and window wiper fluid and blood...but we sure had fun!

Catching up on my photos from our Cornwall trip in March as Monday is always my gardening day @ Home & never go out. This is National Trusts Godolphin house. Most not open to public & used as holiday appartments. Gardens are kept in the format of when the house was the centre of a large mining estate
