We took a hydrofoil, a small high-speed ferry pictured in the foreground, that can make the trip from Fukuoka to Busan in about 3 hours about twice as fast as the regular ferry shown behind. Our travel guidebook described it as riding on a washing machine, which was true to bear. Not incredibily unpleasant, but not exactly riding in luxury and relaxation either.
