January 1st 2016 is here. It's super cold and windy.....
All photos were taken with a Canon Rebel XTi 400D and an EF-S 15-85mm IS USM lens while wearing a Rockgardn Pearl full face helmet and using Troy Lee Designs XC gloves the whole session.
Yes. I took all 344 photos with the helmet and gloves on. All camera functions and settings were with the gloves on. The Canon EOS Digital Rebel 400D has no LCD live view screen I can use. It has the old school viewfinder. I used this while wearing a full face helmet with the visor permanently mounted in it's lowest position with electrical tape for rain rides.
It was an interesting test and I think it worked great!

AMA PRO RACING
So I went out to the Supermoto finals in morongo, Thanks to the AMA. I have never shot so many images in my life, I had a blast and as always learned something new about shooting sports. Met a lot of cool folks and saw a bunch of my friends. Here are a few to look at, more will be popping up elsewhere ;)
my Wife ( www.leighdonovan.com ) turning out some laps at Kart track and pissing guys off-cause she beats em. I took this with my 1dmkII, but with a sigma 105mm macro lens, in AI SERVO. The lens was on the camera because I was taking some jewelry images earlier today for the store and camera was in truck. This lens has that awful sigma focus motor in it, so I was surprised when it grabbed a few nice shots. 580ex on a cord, held out as far as my arm would reach.

Ride all the roughest stuff in the desert and get out on a dry lakebed and crash!!!
I was a participant in the Dist-37 AMA Adventure Motorcycle Rally Nov 23-25 riding my big KTM 950ADV. Finished the event, some 500+ miles and had a blast! Great riding with only 10 miles of tarmac and the rest off-road and tons of photos!!!
On the way home on Sunday, through the desert, I went down hard in a dry lakebed just outside of Baker, California. Luckily I was riding with my buddy Chad of Dust Magazine.
What happened?

I actually took the image, but I do not remember taking the image. Chad said I got up after the crash and took a couple of images, this being one. Look close and you will see a dark horizontal line [through the chest of Chad standing back there] that is where my bike went air born. The dry lake has a "cut-out" road, which I did not see. It dropped down about a foot and as wide as a single blade bulldozer. We where blasting across the lake bed and I drove right across this "cut-out", bike dropped down into it, preloading the suspension and flew out the other side, suspension un-compressing and unloading me at the same time - flying into the air I went!
I landed in the area in the foreground.
I actually road my bike some 15-miles to Baker where Chad and Mark, both of Dust Magazine, had me leave my bike in a safe location and they transported me back home. While on the way home, it was the Dust To Glory scene... where's my bike, where's my bike, where's my bike??? I forgot the events up to the accident and had not recollection of the crash, yeap, and some short-term memory loss.
Doctors where amazed: I'm not dead, not paralyzed and have full function of all my toes and fingers!!! Just a little broke down right now...
Thank you Troy Lee Designs Safety Gear / Scott Boots and Fox Helmets!!! It could have been a lot worse!

I will be wearing this for about six months.
I'm going stir crazy already, but doing anything and everything IS HARD! Sleeping is HARD as I cannot LAY DOWN!!! I have been sitting up for a week - trying to sleep!
My spirit is not broken. I will ride motorcycles again - off-road an all. I will be back to work, that will be the easy. I just have to get my body back in service. One step at a time!!!
I'm working on my ADVrider.com report as it was a great ride, just a rough ending:

Red jeans, white gloves, yellow fixie. Yup, that's what hipsters are made out of.
I've got a fairly large quantity of photos in my folder that I've been sitting on to upload (eventually). Now that fall seems to be firmly upon us, I figured I'd post a couple of the shots from the first super hot weekend of the summer. Spent in Victoria with Blake, watching bikes, drinking beer, taking photos and having a great time.
This was from warm up day, when the only people throwing down clean runs for most of the day were Brandon Semenuk and Anthony Messere.
