We got up early to go on one of those island tours, where you go around in a tiny bus and see some of the places that would be difficult to get to without a car. Our guide was named Bon Jovi (not a pseudonym, that is the name his parents gave him), and he was pretty funny & told us a lot of interesting Hawaiian history in addition to showing us a secret beach, the best shrimp shack on Oahu, a surfing competition, sea turtles, and plenty of other natural beauty. I snorkeled for the first time, and saw lots of stuff on the reef, including angel fish and a SEA TURTLE! Made cutting my feet to shreds on the corals worth it. The last stop on our trip was the Dole plantation, where I FINALLY got to eat a Dole Whip (after deciding not to wait 30 minutes in line to get one at Disneyland this past summer).
At Tropical Farms, they have bins full of macadamia nuts for you to crack open and taste for yourself. It was pretty satisfying, but I narrowly avoided leaving my purse behind after setting it down here.
When we got back, we had enough time to shower & change before dinner at Roy's, which was pretty delicious. Our reservation was early, so afterwards we went to the bar in the Moana Surfrider for drinks, and we loved it. The bartending was top notch and there was popcorn! On our slightly tipsy walk back we ogled everything in the expensive stores, and Mom suggested stepping into Salvatore Ferragamo... and I found the most perfect oxfords ever. And I bought them. And spent the next three days justifying it to myself. NO REGRETS.

El Valle de las Luciérnagas se encuentra ubicado en la ribera del río Zamora, sobre el famoso "Valle de Yantzaza" o "Valle de las Luciérnagas", a 43 kilómetros de la ciudad de Zamora. El origen de su nombre proviene del shuar yanzatza que significa ‘valle de las luciérnagas‘, debido a la constante presencia de estos insectos en el lugar. En las afueras y alrededores de la ciudad se desarrolla una actividad ganadera de forma intensiva que abastece el mercado local y nacional.

Macademia nuts in their shell. They are hard to crack and if you buy them in their shell, you need a special macademia nut cracker.
