One of two “quadriga” — four-horse chariots — created by sculptor George Racipon to decorate the roof of the Grand Palais exposition hall in Paris.
Quadrigas were emblems of triumph; Victory or Fame often are depicted as the triumphant woman driving it. In classical mythology, the quadriga is the chariot of the gods; Apollo was depicted driving his quadriga across the heavens, delivering daylight and dispersing the night.
The word quadriga may refer to the chariot alone, the four horses without it, or the combination.

"Harmony Triumphant over Discord" is allegorically represented, on the side of the Alexander III Bridge over the Seine, by a quadriga led by Apollo (Harmony, god of the Sun and protector of the Arts of Greco-Roman Mythology) who overthrows the Discord represented by the goddess Eris. Welcome to Lecce the Baroque wonder of Apulia and depending on where you find parking this may be the first sight to greet you not Baroque itself but hinting at the wonderfully elegant viewing experience that awaits you.
The city gate pictured here is called Porto Napoli and was built to honor Charles V the Holy Roman Emperor of the day on his visit to the city, the gate itself was modeled after the Roman triumphant arches and certainly cast an impressive figure I am sure Charles was suitably impressed I know I was.
Lecce is well know to Italians but a hidden gem from tourists that flock the more well known parts of Italy which is not a shame in my opinion the city while filed with visitors during the high season doesn’t have that touristy feel and provides an authentic experience for those looking for one, I selfishly hope it remains somewhat unknown.
I took this on Sept 24, 2016 with my D750 and Nikon 24-85 f3.5-4.5 Lens at 24mm 1/50s f/18 ISO 360 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , and DXO

After nearly two months of no traffic, the rails of the CG Line were alive again with a T10! With 20+ loads from Four Rivers Coal in tow, T10 returns to Knoxville via the rain soaked Cumberland Gap.
This special T10 had great power with SD40E 6322 plus SD40-2's 3402, 3236. This was my first time seeing both an Admiral Cab and SD40E in Middlesboro coal service.

This is God’s mighty power and God’s authority. God is brimming with power and filled with authority, no one dare hinder, and God has long overcome everything, and overcome all the sons of disobedience. This gilded bronze sculpture of Columbia Triumphant sits atop of the pylon in the shot before this one (shot on a different day) of the Maine Monument dedicated to the 268 sailors that were killed aboard the USS Maine (ACR-1).The vessel exploded without warning and sank quickly in Havana Harbor in 1895.Strong evidence points to internal coal fires in the ship which ignited magazines to be the cause of the explosion.
