The sunny photo gives lie to how cold it actually was on this morning, when I got up early to avoid the crowds around the Book of Kells at Trinity College Library. It took me a lot less time to walk there than I expected, so I made myself at home on this bench, reading the inscriptions and huddling inward for warmth. The entrance is just to the left, out of frame.
It was me and a half dozen other stalwart women lined up at opening time. They had some sort of electrical malfunction, and opened late. Of course, no one came to tell us anything was amiss. We grew increasingly agitated and indignant at toward the dozen or so employees standing around doing absolutely nothing and pretending not to see us 10 feet away outside the cold glass.

After Anne's wonderful Bach and Buxtehude recital in Trinity College Chapel on July 30, 2007, we had a chance to visit for a moment.
The infamous gate - if you walk under it, you will fail your exams. We did not take that chance, and neither did any other students we saw.
