The north entrance to Rupp Arena, home of the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. I have been waiting for the fountain to come on so I can get this picture. Turned out ok, wish I had a wide angle lens.
Gold sparkle organza felt fabric, made by layering felt and organza with ribbon yarns and machine embroidery. Made into a range of hanging ornaments for Christmas - here's the Star (with red edging and backing)!

This quilt is about 41" x 41.5" and was made from 6 fat eights of fabrics provided by Riley Blake Fabrics as a Modern Quilt Guild challenge. My challenge was to make a baby size quilt so I added lots of Kona White. The triangles are improv pieced. The back has improv pieces pieced with Kona Charcoal.

Also along Route 66, we have this relic from a time long gone; the Triangle Motel. It got it's name from being on the corner E Amarillo & Triangle.
Two things here, first, the rest of the place looks in the same condition as the sign itself. (as you'll see in a couple more shots from the place) Second, and maybe more amazing, the place is still open!

Love the lines of movement - triangles of arms circling into the hair and face. Hair tossed in playful manner to add a touch of glamour style.

Originally built in 1910 the quirky flatiron building housed the Triangle Hotel and Bar is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Through the years its been home to among other things a Western Union Telegraph Comany Branch office and perhaps most notably a brothel. The hotel itself only had 8 small rooms and was once listed by Ripley's Believe It or Not as the smallest hotel west of the Rockies.
Today the upper half of the building is comprised of two apartments while the main floor houses the Triangle Pub. Extremely small the bar offers an intimate feeling, with a nice patio and a plethora of TV's showing sports. Confidently located across the street from CenturyLink Field (Qwest) and Safeco Field its the perfect spot to grab a few pints before heading to a Mariners, Seahawks, or Sounders game.
The Triangle Pub's website can be found here.
Testing uploading of photos using MMS on the cellphone. Photo taken using the camera on my cellphone.

PCA 161 Triangles
Jun 12-Jun 26, 2011 (2 weeks)
Image Tag: pca161
Assignment:
The goal of this assignment is to capture an image containing a triangle – either literal, abstract, or a composition composed of the three focal areas that allow the eye to travel around the image and hit on those areas. It doesn't necessarily have to be an equilateral triangle in the comp. A triangle can be used to position your main and secondary subjects in the frame as well as framing your main subject either subtly or in an obvious manner.

WIT: Architectural details seen in the front of the Northcutt House in Longview, Texas. From street level this was simply a matter of trying to fins the strongest composition that allowed the elements to work together as triangles. By zooming in closely, even the sky is divided into this element of composition.
