Helped a friend pick out a new mirrorless [digital] camera & in turn, I was given this one.

Southern IL, St. Claire county along highway 156.

Waterloo IL courthouse added a buffalo [american bison].

I used this as a lens test subject to see what defocus control [Nikkor 135 DC lens] would get me.

I have the lens set to defocus [aka blur] the background in this shot.

The leaves were more or less in focus before, and the tree & building were not as blurred.

I like the effect here.

I suspect those of you with photo editing experience can replicate this effect - this lens is from the film era :)

I slapped it on a Nikon D5 for fun, and it was [fun].

The previous flash units I had were bulb or cube style..

Never used a flash powder model [yet].

Was out mowing the roadside in Monroe county [southern IL] when this storm rolled in.

I only had the 'return pass' to mow, so I was able to get back to my burrow just as the rain started [figure 1.5 miles from this point].

Time of day was 4:17 pm [late afternoon - the sun sets at 7:21 pm today]

No editing was done [hence the car on the right...]

This was shot through the open car window. (yes, I am that lazy, but it does make this series of barn shots consistent)

Nikon ZF mounted to Olympus 300 f4.5 via the Shoten adapter.

The 2 K&F adapters have also arrived: Canon FD to Nikon Z & the venerable M42 to K [Pentax] mount.

In case you are wondering about the ZF color - that is the factory 'blue' version.

Tomorrow's camera plan 'A' is to use the Canon AE-1 [program] with Ilford Delta 100 [b&w] film on the photowaddle <-- search flickr if interested, lots of bricks & landscaping.

For those not familiar with these, they are 6x8 medium format cameras [120/220/polaroid]. Using a bellows/rail type focusing system. The 'S' on the left has a fixed lens mount, while the other has front lens movement like you would on a large format view camera.

The weird looking viewfinder on the left is the "loupe" style waist level viewfinder, you can slide the round thing [mag loupe] around the top to magnify a portion of the focus screen & it has built-in diopter adjustment.

I do have a prism finder & am looking for the AE finder[s], if any still work.

The backs all have built-in winders PLUS the ability to imprint date/time/etc. between the frames. [the backs use 2 CR2 batteries, the bodies use 3 lithium 123 batteries.

The one on the right came with 3 rolls of FRESH Kentmere PAN 400 :) :) :)

Each lens has a Seiko #1 electronic shutter & the apt is also part of the lens.

Cool feature - if you want to raise the mirror - there is a small switch called... wait for it.... MIRROR, and you just slide the switch up - poof - there it is.

I am stunned that every camera wasn't that simple...

I have several lenses, and am of course looking for the whole set.

Anyone have any experience with these?

[for those wondering if I have ran any film through the Mamiya RX67's yet - No, I have not, my vision is still too blurry to manually focus a camera.

Olympus OM2n with winder & T-20 TTL flash alongside mamiya/sekor 500 TL [circa 1968] went to Kaskaskia state wildlife refuge [southern IL].

Fujifilm 200 in the OM2n & 400 in the mamiya/sekor [both C41 for those keeping score at home]

Spot metering takes some getting used to [looking at you, 500 TL], so I am just aiming around to see if anything is way out of scale at this point.

Southern IL sunset after being rainy all day. There was a weak rainbow, but not strong enough to photograph.

OK, as you know, I am still trying to optimize carting film around.

This attempt is using a Milwaukee PackOut tool box with the bulk of the film now in the Tenba soft bag that was housing my Cokin filters. [which have moved to a Homak tool box].

I think this new method will work better with the medium format cameras since they are also in the PackOut stackable boxes.

As I write this, I thought I should also place my 35mm exposed film boxes [Japan Camera Hunter] in here also...

I generally store my film at room temp since I shoot it within the year.

Yeah, still haven't found a YELLOW Japan Camera Hunter 120 carrier. [and I don't know if there ever was that color made - there is a pink one now]

Yeah, I don't remember which small town this is in.... I should take notes :)

I was going to say sycamore to the stars, but it was daylight...

This is at Kaskaskia state wildlife refuge in southern IL, far eastern boundary.

We are looking north in this shot.

Fresh off of ebay...

F-1 Canon, all the mechanical parts seem to work.

I am going to buy one of those 1.5 -> 1.3 battery converters

I don't know if the winder is dead, or I just don't know how to test unhooked from the camera [haven't downloaded a manual yet].

Given the age of the CdS cell, I will probably use external meter anyway.

As part of my Mamiya/Sekor 500 TL [35mm camera] test, I grabbed this pic as a reference photo.

I grabbed this shot inbetween rain showers & you can see droplets if you zoom in.

If anyone knows what this flower is, drop a comment [i flunked flower 101, and i am partially color blind anyway].

In the camera was jifufilm 400 [aka kodak 400 since 2023] and it will be a while before I finish the roll.

Usiing the iphone as a reference pic will help me know when I took this pic with the camera.

I am also playing with different light meter apps & was comparing those settings to the spot meter in the '500.

So far, the phone is showing + 1 stop compared to the '500 - but I do NOT have completely fresh batteries in there either. [not low enough to fail the on-board battery check though]

Do any of you use Viltrox lenses?

South Pittsburg, TN: Some of the traffic signals have GREEN on top & RED on bottom. Also, yellow is never on by itself. These signals came from the railroad, which explains the color order. I do not know if these are still there, photo was from 1987. Camera: Ricoh-xr7/Kalimar 28-70 lens. Kodak print film.

Yes, I do write the number on the lens hood so I can tell what goes to what.

I really enjoy using this camera, esp the dedicated BW switch & the viewfinder that shows you depth of field instantly. [as opposed to the optical viewfinders where you have to stop down & image gets darker].

Because I know people at work are going to ask what this looked like....

If this is your first visit - Fotodiox [they are near Chicago[ has made some adapters for Bronica SQ lenses.

I bought a Pentax K mount & a Nikon F mount [they don't have a Z for the SQ, only the Ertsi]

Since they arrived this PM, I have spammed a few pics in my photo stream.

Thoughts ?

Praire Du Rocher IL, the closest town to Fort de Chartres.

scan from Nikon F3, Kodak 400 film.

These are slightly mis-focused, I think I need a diopter or a mag-finder due to poor eyesight.

Fika is a Swedish break for coffee or tea with treats and must be enjoyed in the company of friends or colleagues. It is sort of like a Smoko in Australia 😊 It is seen more than just a break – a ritual and a time to take a break and socialize to promote good teamwork and increase productivity in workplaces. Big and small companies in Sweden make this a compulsory event every day to increase the value of their business. Sweden is a progressive country with lots of great ideas, no wonder this term and idea β€œFika” is trending now 😊 With a little bit of research and some background knowledge, this is my interpretation of the theme for fabric design on @spoonflower design challenge this week 😊 Swedish Fika Feast, I hope you like it and vote for my design at the end of the week 😊

And Swedish followers, please let me know how good or bad I went with the interpretation, I would appreciate your honest comments 😊 xox

This design and other coordinates are available in my Spoonflower store for purchase on fabric and other home décor items right now 😊

Lens Z 70-180.

Shooting Ilford 100 Delta B&W with the Cokin green filter [wanted more separation of green foliage vs red brick buildings]

Camera strap is vintage, came with the ebay camera purchase [recycledphoto out of CO].

Using the Ilford box to prop up the lens [if they sent me free film, I might be more careful about placement...] ;)

Everything was going OK, then at frame 25, the winder made a 1/2 noise & stopped. I cycled power, tried to manual wind, shutter dead... THEN I finally noticed it was a TWENTY-FOUR exp roll [am so used to 36...]

Luckily, NO ONE saw this & I will DENY it if you tell anyone.

I will say that the Canon winder is the slowest/weirdest sounding thing. I have 2, both act the same.

Thoughts?
