In late March I had decided it might be safe (covid wise) to check out the botanic gardens. I had also decided to try using the phone's Hipstamatic app again as I had been coming across photos from back in 2015 when I'd been using it a lot.

There hadn't been a great amount blooming back in March but the early hour and low sun made for interesting light and dark.

In frame there is some sort of metal art stuck in the ground almost like a tombstone. Cut out of it, maybe with a laser are birds on branches. There are a couple other pieces like this around the area.

Any idea what they might be called? I must be using wrong wording when I try to search for their like.

The clematis trellis. A lot of birds use this as a launch pad for catching unwary insects flying across the yard. This is a little flycatcher. Bluebirds like to use this too.

This was an unexpected early morning shot on California's northern coastline around Mendocino. I was trying to catch a gap in the fog, which is a game you have to play in July in California, and I decided to try Russian Gulch, a little inlet with a tiny beach and even smaller campground. As I headed down the steep, twisty road, I was rewarded with this spectacular sight, nicely spotlighted by the warming rays.

I shot this amazing flower at 6:43 AM this morning. This is straight out of the camera (SOOC) just as I saw it.

still to do... turn heap of soil (previously full of stinging nettles) into two new beds for veggies... wait till May to plant veggies... tree is apple... shrub is lilac...
