Having closed off Stedham Lane... a crew of tree surgeons attempt to clear a fallen tree from its rather inconvenient resting place.

I met James when walking past Covent Garden tube station in London - this is one of the busiest and worst streets to make a portrait on.
When I saw his wild hair and crazy blue sunglasses I had to photograph him so told him so. He was with a girl at the time and I never even thought to offer them a shot together I was so caught off guard by his wild and crazy looks -he reminded me of someone from a movie like The Hangover or something!
I pulled him over to a side street where there was a pub window I wanted to use for a reflection and we went for a few shots - at one point I took one with his glasses off but immediately I asked him to put them back on as they just completed the look so well!
James is a tree surgeon from Brighton on the South Coast and he gave me the advice for anyone wanting to look after a tree and ensure it is healthy to "nurture it from a young age!"
One cool guy and a pleasure to photograph.

A tree surgeon trimmed back some of the branches of our neighbour's tree recently. I was amazed at the size of the thorns on it, which were making the job very difficult for the tree surgeon.

A warm and dry welcome will be guaranteed at the National Trust’s Montacute House now that improvements to the re named Old Laundry Café have been completed.
Previously known as the Courtyard Café, the new name reflects the building’s original purpose as a laundry. After the building work has finished the courtyard will have new flagstones and drainage as well as a fresh look thanks to the addition of new furniture and canopies.
Most eye-catching of all the new features is the commission of four giant carved clothes peg benches created from solid logs felled in the gardens. They are the work of Mimi Rousell, who creates the carvings using nothing more than a chain saw, tape measure and great deal of skill.

The tree is the one we never had and never planted ( thank you Mr Dickie Bird !! ) and the time has come for a bit of a haircut on it's wayward branches . So here we see a bit of lopping on the go , as I type they are just packing up !

Sculptor and craftsman Terry Eagan has restored and reconstructed 100 cement trees during the last eight years at the Huntington Library and Gardens in San Marino, California.

A sight not often seen in the UK in February!
The UK has just experienced its hottest winter day ever.
The last few days have been exceptionally warm and a temperature of 21.2C was recorded in London.
Been a while since I walked this lane with the dogs and it was a treat to find this horses head sculpture at the entrance of the stables farm shop. I liked it so much I took four photo's of it then couldn't decide which angle I liked best so kept them all.
