One Of The Stops on Hwy 89A between Flagstaff And Sedona

Did a daytrip from Port Douglas into the Atherton Tableland & on the way back late in the afternoon aprox 25km from Mt Molloy, stopped to get some shots of these interesting dead trees. Got back in the hire car only to find the battery was dead. Luckily had mobile reception, called Budget emergency breakdown number and they got an RACQ truck to us an hour later. I expected he would just jump start it, but solution was to put the car on the truck & take it & us to Mt Molloy. Asked Budget how do we get to Port Douglas now. They said maybe catch a bus....yeah right. No bus goes through Mt Molloy any time of day, let alone by this stage 7pm Sunday night. RACQ guy called us a taxi & we got back to Port Douglas at 9pm. All ended ok, got a replacement car next day & refund on the taxi + an extra $75 off bill. Also found out next day that the long grass I had been walking through to get photo's of the trees, was full of Taipan snakes. ooops

Nice trees at the rest stop on Battle Mountain

It's blooming right now. A mass of blooms on what must be a very old large tree on an old farmstead along Augusta Highway, Route 25 at Princeton, S.C. Couldn't get too close as gate is closed and no trespassing signs posted and may not be occupied? Initially I thought it was a horsechestmut, but have dismissed that and now my best guess is Catalpa. If so, I'd expect it to be Catalpa bignonioides - Southern Catalpa.

The wildflowers are wonderful in Kings Park at the moment

Boab Tree

Palmer oaks, Joshua trees, foothill pines and junipers.

Riiiiiiight! TREE swallow.

Derek and I assembled the aluminum Christmas tree today. We don't have a color wheel to go with it, so we tried to get a similar affect with a string of red LEDs.

another misty morning

A false summit of Phelps is visible in the distance.

Thursday during my lunch time walk, many of the trees were sprouting spring blossoms. This birch tree's catkins were swaying the in the breeze. Each day this week, it's been wonderful to get outside for spring walk before returning inside for the afternoon. Mar 22, 2012 L1010224.dng

Quercus lobata

VALLEY OAK/ROBLE. The parking lot oak, with mists rising behind. I was rained on almost my whole walk. It wasn't much of a break in the rain.

Hello cold winter, my old enemy.

Just found a Bon Iver tune I didn't know existed, BOOM.

Or is it an owl?

One day at some tree stump

The Christmas tree provided a good opportunity to test out the higher ISOs on the MarkII. Slower shutter speeds and kids do not mix so it is nice to crank things up a bit on for situations like this.

It was really warm and foggy that day. I stumbled upon this tree...the vibrant red color stuck out against all of the fog
