Dog sledding challenge members each have their own dog sled pulled by a team of 4-6 huskies, looking after each other and becoming a powerful unit by the end of the challenge. The nature of this fundraising event means that it is run with a relatively small number of fundraisers (13 maximum). Challenge participants are expected to feed, harness and look after their sled dogs for the entire adventure. An ATD venture leader, supported by an experienced expedition doctor and a local Polar guide, will head up the charity expedition.

Raegan Test stands by window. This was the window in the room that we had, for 33 days, while WWOOFing at the Chateau Isle Marie, a luxury bed and breakfast in Picauville, France. This room was on the second floor of a 2-story building that had 15 rooms in it. Our room was the only one that was occupied. The attic was huge and bats would fly around in it. One night, I was awakened by a sound at the bedroom door. Cautiously, I opened it and Raegan pointed at the bat flying around in circles high above our bed (the room had high ceilings). I managed to use a shirt to swipe at it until it fell on the floor. Raegan was crying. She thought it was dead. Carefully, I placed it on the window sill. When I pushed it off, it flew away. Raegan and I met Ben and Janine, who let us stay in their friends room, who happened to be out of town for a few days, until we had a place to stay couch surfing. They were friendly hosts, inviting us to meet their friends here at the park, at a punk bar, and offering us a delicious vegan dinner.
