The Irish Ferries Dublin Swift fastferry makes a low key return on its first sailing of the day from Holyhead to Dublin, following the slow boat Stena Line Estrid.
This sleek vessel leaves conventional ferries in its wake, offering a thrilling alternative for tourists and car passengers eager to beat the clock. With its modern design and swift journey, it’s no wonder this fastcraft has become a favorite for those looking to enjoy the scenic crossing with a bit of excitement thrown in!
Launched in 2001, the Dublin Swift was built by Incat Tasmania, known for crafting high-speed catamarans. This impressive ferry joined the Irish Ferries fleet to provide a quicker link between Ireland and Wales, boasting a top speed that makes it a standout on the route. Its origins reflect a blend of innovative engineering and a commitment to enhancing travel across the Irish Sea.
As for the blooming flowers in the foreground,, Gardeners World tells me this could be red valerian (Centranthus ruber), often found along coastal areas and adding a vibrant splash of color to the scene.
Blooming wonderful.

Riomaggiore, the southernmost village of the Cinque Terre, nestles in a narrow valley between lush green hills and the open Ligurian Sea. The sunlit rooftops of the tightly packed houses glow above a maze of steep alleys. To the left, the coastal road curves up toward the cemetery; to the right, cliffs drop steeply to the sea. A perfect harmony of nature, culture, and architecture.

Mizithres are rocky islets or formations near the coast of Zakynthos, specifically on the southwest coast of the island near the village of Keri. Appearance: They are distinctive rock formations that rise out of the sea and are known for their impressive appearance, which attracts visitors and photographers. Access: Mizithres can be reached by boat from nearby resorts such as Keri, or can be viewed from vantage points on land such as Keri Lighthouse or the Keri Lighthouse Restaurant. Interesting fact: Near Mizithres is also the famous Navagio beach with a shipwreck, and the area is part of the Zakynthos marine park, where Caretta Caretta turtles can be observed.🌄🌄
The buildings are absolutely amazing. The architecture is fantastic. This area is quite unique in Antwerp. Apparently the area used to belong to some filthy rich family or families, back in the 19th century, and the area has been named after them. The houses appear to be either huge homes or townhouses with gardens in the front. Some seem to be much bigger than others. Some appear to be almost like castles. Nevertheless this unique area is worth a visit, at least from an aesthetic and architectural viewpoint.
Picture this: a bright green DoDublin open-top tour bus, proudly parked at the Dublin Bus stop in Phoenix Park, ready to whisk tourists away on a hop-on, hop-off adventure through the charming streets of Dublin. But today, this bus has some rather unusual passengers hitching a ride! A giant inflatable unicorn, a cheeky eggplant, a mischievous squirrel, and a pink pig are all hanging out near the iconic Wellington Monument, looking like they’ve just escaped from a parade—or perhaps the Dublin Zoo nearby decided to throw a costume party. The bus driver, unfazed by the quirky crew, is probably wondering if these characters have their tickets ready for the next stop at Temple Bar!
The DoDublin sightseeing tour is a tourist favorite, and for good reason. With its hop-on, hop-off flexibility, you can jump off to sip a pint at the Guinness Storehouse, explore the historic Trinity College, or snap a selfie at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, then hop back on to continue the journey. The open-top bus gives you the best views of Dublin’s vibrant streets, from the colorful Georgian doors to the bustling energy of Grafton Street. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned visitor, DoDublin’s lively commentary and iconic green buses make every ride a delight—though today’s passengers might be adding a bit more flair than usual!
Phoenix Park itself is a gem worth exploring, sprawling over 1,750 acres as one of the largest enclosed parks in any European capital. It’s home to the Dublin Zoo, where you can meet real animals (not just inflatable ones!), from roaring lions to playful penguins. The park also houses the elegant Áras an Uachtaráin, the residence of the President of Ireland, and the towering Wellington Monument, where our inflatable friends seem to be staging their impromptu photoshoot. With its rolling green fields and ancient deer herds, Phoenix Park is the perfect spot to stretch your legs—or your inflatable hooves—before hopping back on the DoDublin bus for more city adventures. Just don’t be surprised if the unicorn tries to claim the front seat!
Sumatra is one island I wish I can visit. Since it is not part of my business itinerary, I make do by partaking of the incredibly spicy and unique cuisine it is most famous for, the Masak Padang.
The best place to have Padang food in Bali is the small local unassuming eatery, the Minang Saiyo near the airport. It is also one place where you can see an authentic Minangkabau wedding banquet hall as well.
One striking feature of the wedding stage is a triangular ceiling overhang (upper left)of brocade and bright buntings showcasing the fabulous Minangkabau songket. By its walls are large drapes of (polyester) silk hangings featuring the unique embroidery using gold and silver threads and sequins. Also prominent is the 2-layer payung or umbrella (lower right)which rightfully honors the woman for after all this ethnic group of West Sumatra, while Islamic, remains strongly matriarchal.
Glorious food, cheap (!) prices, stunning setting, what more do you need?

The name of this stylish structure dating from the belle époque period stems from the French word paravent; literally ‘wind screen’. The Paravang is a left over from a period when bathing tourism was an elitist distraction.
Thanks to an exotically influenced neo gothic style it exudes clear hints of the Orient.
The Paravang is a favourite meeting point, for both locals and tourists alike. It is also just a pleasant place to sit around and enjoy the views out over the harbour or of the Leopold Park.
With tourist season getting underway - I thought I'd give fair warning to those about to travel over the Alaskan Highway. You will not escape mud, even if you have good weather all the way. Plan on muddy spots - rough road surfaces - and heavy equipment sharing the road with you. Last summer we encountered all of those conditions, as well as a forest fire that had recently crossed the road - with crews still on the scene mopping up. In the event of a road being washed out - make sure you have some food supplies along. You never know how long a wait you may have before you can resume your travels. If you have allowed yourself plenty of time for your trip - these little set backs should not bother you. Remember to "row with the flow" and you'll be just fine.
Happy trails to all.

Devil's Valley lies high in the Caucasus Mountains, near the Jvari Pass. The valley is known for its raw beauty: steep mountains, deep gorges, fast-flowing rivers, and ancient watchtowers. In the past, it was a strategically important area, but also dangerous and difficult to traverse. It earned the nickname “Valley of the Devils” because invaders would often get lost, be ambushed, or simply never return—partly due to the fierce defense by the local population. Few tourists venture here; it feels like a hidden world. Especially outside the summer season, the valley is hard to access. Hikers and off-road adventurers love this kind of terrain, but it’s far from a typical day trip. One of the natural highlights of the area is the Eretos Waterfall. Cascading down a rocky cliff into a narrow gorge, the waterfall is tucked away between forested slopes. The sound of the falling water echoes through the valley, adding to the mysterious atmosphere of the region. It’s a place where nature takes center stage: wild, untouched, and barely marked by human presence. Visiting the waterfall feels like a reward for those willing to explore this rugged landscape.
Devil's Valley lies high in the Caucasus Mountains. The region is dramatic and mountainous, with panoramic views and an untamed character. It lies along the famous Georgian Military Highway, an ancient route that connects Tbilisi with Russia via the Jvari Pass. The landscape displays a mesmerizing contrast between snow-capped peaks and the golden autumn slopes, a characteristic feature of the region in late autumn. The deep blue sky emphasize the grandeur of the Caucasus, making this a truly awe-inspiring sight. Kanitha enjoying a view on the valley, with the impressive Caucasus mountains in the background.

In the heart of Skopje, the vibrant capital of North Macedonia, lies the centuries-old Old Bazaar – Stara Čaršija. This is one of the largest and oldest bazaars in the Balkans, where Ottoman mosques, old caravanserais, and small shops line the narrow cobblestone streets. Walking here feels like stepping back in time. While exploring, we needed some Macedonian cash. At first, I was a bit skeptical about exchanging money at a small office right in the bazaar: Döviz Bürosu – Exchange Office. It looked very modest, with a tiny counter and a handwritten sign. Behind the glass sat a boy of about twelve with a calculator. His English was surprisingly good – probably better than his father’s, who was working in the back. The exchange rate turned out to be excellent – much better than the banks – and there was no commission. We decided to exchange a small amount, and everything was spot on. The next day, we came back to change a larger amount. Thanks to the good rate, our cocktails that evening suddenly became much cheaper. An unexpected but charming experience that perfectly matched the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the bazaar.
While exploring Skopje’s Old Bazaar, we exchanged money at a tiny Döviz Bürosu that looked a bit sketchy at first. The young boy behind the counter spoke great English, the rate was excellent with no commission, and everything went smoothly – so well that we came back the next day to change more.
The Bimmah Sinkhole, located near Qurayyat, Oman, is a natural limestone sinkhole about 90 kilometers from Muscat. Despite local legends claiming it was created by a falling star, it formed naturally through erosion. The sinkhole is around 50 meters wide and 30 meters deep, with turquoise water that is a mix of seawater and fresh water. While it's a popular spot for swimming, we decided not to swim in it. To us, it seemed like the water was mainly rainwater that wasn’t being refreshed, and with so many people already bathing in it, we felt it wasn’t in our best interest to join. The site is part of Hawiyat Najm Park, which provides parking and picnic areas, making it an easy day trip from Muscat - Qurayyat, Oman
