The title "Transformers" can be read in a number of ways. The two sculptures - The Ironmaster and The Coal Miner - were constructed from the leftovers of the steelworks at Consett, County Durham, which at one time was one of the largest producers of steel in Europe.
The 6 m high sculptures represent the industrial heritage of the region - steelmaking and coal mining. They can be found on the former Stanhope & Tyne railway line, built in 1834 to link the steelworks at Consett to the sea at Sunderland, which closed following the demolition of the steelworks in 1985.
The sculptures were commissioned by Northern Arts and Sustrans in 1990 as part of the development of the National Cycle Network. They were built by David Kemp and Tom Leaper in a former North Eastern Electricity Board yard at Wallsend, Tyne and Wear.
This image was taken from a scanned negative. The plaque on the ground below the sculptures reads:
"The men who lived here dug the black stone. In giant huts they burned earth turning it into iron. They turned the sky red. A river of steel ran down to the sea and was transformed again into locos, ships and machines which transformed the world."
Yick Cheong Building, a public housing development in Quarry Bay. It might be made popular by a scene in Transformers Age Of Extinction..
Really love the colourful buildings.

An OD Transport Mack Titan, hauling a $3.6m, 147 tonne transformer on a 104-wheel trailer, prepares to reverse into the Magill power substation. With the trailer weighing 60 tonne, and the Mack Titans tipping the scales at 24 tonne each, the whole thing weighed over 250 tonne.

This is one of my sons first "big boy" toys. He is nearly 35 now but I keep this one as it will always bring back a memory that my baby was growing up fast.
We had gone into town on the bus, no buggy, he was about 2 and a half. First stop toys r us. He chose this transformers which is a VW beetle as we had one at the time.
When we got outside of the shop we opened up the packaging. I was reading the instructions how to transform the car, but before I had finished he had worked it out all on his own. Yes he was one of those kids! Still is!!
I keep this one close to my heart as a reminder of the day my baby turned into a little boy!

Rediseño del Astrotrain de la G1. El robot está excelente, no tanto las formas alternas. El tren bala me deja mis dudas todavÃa.

"I grew up this high because of you," said a metal-sounding voice from inside. "If you continue to pollute the planet, very soon there will be only me and the darkness here."

Just got back from vacation to the Midwest, this is the Milwaukee Art Museum, located on the shores of Lake Michigan. Since the Milwaukee Lakefront faces East, this is a sunrise. (I hate waking up early). I was able to get some really great shots on my vacation, and they are very different from my typical images due to the different landscapes in the Midwest vs. the West Coast. This was the first morning, so I figured I would post this image first.
The Quadracci Pavilion of the Milwaukee Art Center was built in 2001 by famous Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, and was also featured in the 2011 film: Transformers Dark of the Moon.

It includes instructions for a couple of smaller Transformers designs, but also instructions to build an Optimus Prime model.
This Transformer is 20 feet tall, and weighs 5200 pounds. It is made from recycled auto & motorcycle parts, metal shelving and various household appliance pieces. It is on permanent display in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Cropped but otherwise an unadulterated iPhone5 image of the transformers in my previous photo "The Land of Giants". It was a dull grey day hence the processing for the main shot. For my group www.flickr.com/groups/telegraph_tuesday/ HTT!
So, bet no one expected this. Recently kinda sorta got back into transformers, as you do, and spent a few days building this guy. Doesn't transform, for now at least. Might have a crack at an actual transforming transformer at some point. Really like him though, I'm quite pleased I was able to make a wee Optimus prime, kinda wanna take him places, and get shots of him 'exploring' places.
So, not much to say really...ooh, of all the things I could find hard, the gun was definitely the hardest thing to get right. It's not great, but it'll do. So, as always, lemme know what you think :D
