After serving as a volunteer for Special Olympics for 10 years, Mary went on to become CEO of Special Olympics Ireland. She is best known as CEO Of the phenomenally successful 2003 Special Olympics World Summer Games hosted in Dublin, Ireland which represented the largest sporting event in the world that year, raised more than 30 million euros in fundraising and transformed attitudes towards people with intellectual disabilities in Ireland. Here she is presenting a tribute to U2's Bono in recognition for the band's support for the Games in Ireland.

When I started this years 365days project I titled it Transform. I did this because like it or not I was changing. In some ways I knew I would change consciously or unconsciously but at the end of the 365day I would be different. A major component of this transformation occurred today.
Today my divorce was finalized and I am no longer married. I refuse to add commentary to that other than we both agreed to move on. I have been trying to avoid putting this topic here, but yes I am moving because of this reason. Yes this did happen, and this is where I am right now.
On my computer is an image of my wedding, taken over 8 years ago. We stood side by side and said what we said, we were surrounded by friends and family. Today I stood by her side as we stood in front of a judge. We were both alone. The judge spoke remarkably fast with little to no emotion, and with the swipe of his pen we were no longer married. He wished us both luck and we were on our way. That was it.
I am different today, for better or worse.
