As a photographer I am attracted to differences, oppositions and contrasts.

I think they express nature's beauty and lifegiving power and humans' need for material and spiritual changes and evolutions, producing both positive and negative effects.

With time my need to explore the abandoned and forgotten spaces created by men throughout the centuries [so abundant in my Southern Italian homeplace] and to capture with the camera the feeling I get when walking through those empty spaces grew.

They hold the secrets of the fascinating past and its hidden traces of beauty, so different from the mass produced items and spaces built in “our” world.

I started to systematically seek old places, very often on the verge of a deep change, to document them. They were almost always destroyed or drastically changed soon after my brief visit.

I began to experience that each modification of the human environment causes and mirrors a change in the human spirit and I learned that not all that counts can be counted.

With this exhibition I wish to bring to you some of that feeling and I hope you will enjoy the photographs.

This room has served different purposes over the years – at one time it was a gymnasium. When the renovations started, it was filled with bedrooms. When the bedrooms were removed, including the ceilings, it exposed the old roof structure we see now and the flooring.

This room will soon be home to our Transformational Learning Classroom which will support dynamic learning across all programs.
