Me, my hubby and some awesome friends are playing together every week picking a word and taking a photo to express it. I was needing this push to inspire myself again and rediscover my creativity.
This shot wasn't what I was wanting to do for this word however the fun part of this challenge is that somehow you keep seeking for the word even after the week. I'm sure that sooner or later I'll take something that I'd say that's what I was wanting for that week.

There are some walks that transcend expectations and this was one of those. The first train out of Faversham to Dover and a short walk to Shakespeare Cliff and this is where the route begins. The sun was out first thing but soon storm clouds gathered and there was a freezing on-shore breeze so cold you could see your breathe in front of you. Down to Samphire Hoe to take a look at the last of the Early Spider Orchids then back to the cliff climb itself. it's about 11 miles from Dover Priory Station to Crete Road West above Folkestone on the chalk Downs, I had the whole day to walk at a stately speed to take in the views and points of interest. Heaven.....

The Civil War encampment was filled not just with soldiers but all sorts of people representing life as it existed in the 1860s. I came upon this woman sitting quietly beneath a tent. She caught my eye from several hundred feet away. I approached and introduced myself. She possessed a quiet dignity, a sense of gravitas. She spoke softly and was kind to me. She agreed to pose and I captured this beautiful, timeless portrait.

I thought the shot was interesting not only because of the composition, but because of the man walking out onto the street checking the lenght of his new haircut -- this hair salon did not even have a mirror for customers to inspect the "after" result!

where e g /oquence isolates honest assessment, not
being one of their chiliad/st.ic quarters isn't isolation.
not a diminishment, if being exercised more fully -

to rain align, all the absorbed moments of illumination.
bathed in light, friendships bear holistic temperament

tales shine in via our window of thousand caresses,
where you are sewing a blouse that feeds the spine.
tender paws & sky-ball inside, dashing out of a conch;
over tears-coasts, the white expanse, so kind & clear.
coconut chirping an intrinsic and glorious awakening.
rose dew here, and trouble talk lies beyond the map.
the truth is made real through servitude in affection.
psithurism of intimate revelations recalls clutched keys;
the key did turn. everywhere you turn is full of wonder.
awed to see - the shift inside, shifts deep garden state!
how did a blackbird of the milky way land up here,
that joy glistens in the kaleidoscopic, tent•i•er eyes.
how else to truly trace this landscape of provenance,
a cat following a radiant butterfly to the ringing bells.

I took this shot about 100 times while I was there, probably made security think what in the hell was I doing. Finally got a single person at the right point to line up with the light. I love this.

By far, this is not the most perfectly composed shot. The beauty of what Fall represents might make up for some of it, I hope.
When I think of this leaf, it was a unique part of something greater. Maybe it still is in a new way. Being a part of the Plum Tree, it offered shade for the squirrel to sit under and laugh at the dog. It's beautiful color attracted birds to come sing in the tree. A safe haven for the high energy hummingbirds to take a little break. And it's shade even gave yesterday's pic part of it's lovely dimension as it enjoyed a gentle breeze. And it was there to nourish the tree itself.
I'm happy for everything this leaf has brought as we celebrate what Fall means.

Your body is not who you are. The mind and spirit transcend the body...by the way, his legs have been paralyzed at the age of 10 because of Typhoid Fever...so he sits in his wheelchair but Life does not stop it so with just one hand he is working at a car wash.
Wild with light, warped and wind-whipped, the tree line is blasted with a sort of enchantment. It is a boundary; both a conclusion and an aperture, a hinterland of possibility, as it transcends two worlds and none, the class of place that fairy tales are set and mythology grows from the earth.
Line is erroneous here, there are no straight ranks, that is a falsehood of distance and this is a natural finale for the close, cool, cosseted-ness of the forest; slow recoil, diminishing and fading with elevation and exposure. But there is no retreat; in the way only a tree can show its tenacity and perseverance, by fighting to a bitter end, but never giving ground. The Germans call it krummholz meaning twisted wood caused by wind and between those twists and turns there exist for the imaginative eye a feast of forms and hollows where who-knows-what may dwell; they seem to imply a curse over the solemnity of the moor, a land of russet bracken, purple heather, the dark rubies of the winberry and a dominant sky.
In short it is a place that would frighten small children, but in my old, bitter and twisted-cynical years, it is a place to find what little delight the world can still offer. Maybe there is meaning in finding gratification in the midst of the fight for life; a metaphor in that tenacity; and even an optimism in that a long hard life reveals an undiscovered beauty.
