There were just three colours of cosmetics – white oshiroi, red beni, and black ohaguro and eyebrow powder, and beni was the only chromatic colour. It was used not only for lip and cheek rouge but also for eyeliner, as a makeup base, and as nail polish on occasion. Beni makeup performed many roles.
The Edo period is defined as the period from 1603, when the Tokugawa family positioned itself at the centre of politics, to 1878, when Yoshinobu Tokugawa returned the power to the emperor. In this period, the samurai rose their status, and the standard of living improved significantly. While the authority refused to have relationships with other countries, Japan created its own unique culture in this period.
If this photo would have been taken in the 1950s it would certainly look exactly the same. So lets call it tradition of the Alpine foothills area in Bavaria.

Il presepe
Queste sono statuine (molto piccole) di un presepe tradizionale napoletano, comprate 15-20 anni fa a Roma a Piazza Navona. Sono in terracotta "vestita", ossia, piccole come sono, hanno abiti di stoffa.
Nativity
These are (tiny) pieces of a traditional Neapolitan nativity. I got them in Rome some 15-20 years ago. They are in terracotta and, small as they are, their clothes are fabric.

Nachi no Dengaku is a Japanese folk performing art, manner of dance and music have been fixed through it’s long tradition by the local people of Nachi to wish for an abundant harvest of rice crops.
Performed with flute player, drummers and Binzasara players a repertoires of 22 dance and music on a 4m square stage inside Kumano Nachi Shrine during the annual Nachi fire festival.
In 1976 it was designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.

Since having my rustic arbor and bench built I try to decorate it with a wreath every year. This is the one I chose and have used over the past few years.
Normally, Jongmyo Shrine is only open for guided tours on most days. However, I was able to get in without a guided tour because it was on a Saturday which was the only day not needing a guided tour. Still, I got a glimpse on how much importance South Koreans put on cultural education to their kids.
Right over here in this photo was a guide in hanbok explaining to the kids what was Jongmyo Shrine used in the past. A really interesting thing to note is that despite fast changes and foreign influence over the decades, Korea has still managed to keep many of its traditions.
When our kids were small a tradition was to get them Lifesaver Christmas Books for their stockings. OOPS I mean Santa Claus!

Many boats sail on Victoria Bay in Hing-Kong, but none of them are as spectacular as the Aqua Luna, her red sails and small lights make her the most famous Chinese sailing boat in Hong Kong.
The Aqua Luna was built from scratch; it took a Hong Kong craftsman 18 months to construct using traditional shipbuilding methods under the supervision of a 73-year-old shipbuilder.
