Train tracks north of downtown Denver...

_______________

House: How many friends do you have?

Lucas Douglas: Seventeen.

House: Seriously? Do you keep a list or something?

Lucas Douglas: No, I knew this conversation was really about you, so I gave you an answer so you could get back to your train of thought...

I tried to get a good picture down low of the train tracks with the Milwaukee Depot in the background.

always worried when I'm shooting here...although it looks like a long way around that corner...it's not, when that train appears travelling at 60mph...

I like how this shows how uneven the tracks really are from this angle. We don't have railroad tracks around us so when I saw these outside the window of the Dr office I knew where my next stop was going to be.

We had some down time waiting for the "Super" moon to rise on Saturday night, so I took a few shots on a near by rail line leading into downtown Dallas.

Thanks for looking!

Out and about Friday night in my 'hood, stopped at Fellow Traveler for a drink and dinner. There was an 8-track DJ! We had a great conversation bout 8-tracks and their history. What a blast from the past.

The 8-track tape (Stereo 8), is a magnetic tape sound recording technology from the mid-60s to the mid-80s. One advantage of the old 8-tracks was that they could play continuously in and endless loop (the didn't have to be ejected and turned around), unlike the cassette tape. Even with this convenience, the 8-track was eventually replaced by cassettes and is not considered obsolete.

The popularity of both 8-track cartridges grew from the booming '60s automobile industry. In September 1965, the Ford Motor Company introduced factory-installed and dealer-installed eight-track tape players as an option on three of its 1966 models (the Mustang, Thunderbird, and Lincoln). By 1967, all Fords offered the 8-track tape player as an upgrade option.

In the U.S.., 8-tracks were phased out of retail stores in 1982, but were still available through music record clubs until late 1988.

This is the "other" version. I don't like it as much but I think the general public will prefer this one.

There seem to be a lot of new railway tracks in Namibia but not a whole lot of trains... This was taken early morning near the town of Grünau in the southern part of the country.
