Happy Halloween! Hope you have a ghostly night......

Tokyo’s Tower of Terror has you visiting the fictional Hotel Hightower. The hotel used to be occupied by Harrison Hightower a rich collector who traveled the globe obtaining and sometimes stealing precious artifacts. One day on a trip to Africa he found a mysterious idol who eventually came to life causing Mr. Hightower’s elevator to come crashing to the ground.

This is dedicated to my Flickr buddy, Susan. It's a shot she encouraged me to take! Deep inside the bowels of the haunted hotel in Hollywood Studios: the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror!

I love Susan's style, love her dedication to her art, and her dedication to her life. Susan is a blast to wander with through her Disney World, a place she loves with a passion.

She has other passions, too, like her wonderful husband, Bill, and their beloved birds. But her love of art deco and abstracts -- that really shines through her pretty eyes. (She has the most remarkable eyes.)

Thank you, Susan, for showing me your world. I know my time in Walt Disney World was enhanced a 100-fold because you were there.

PS Tough to shoot this one -- hand-held in low light, and we were moving at a fairly quick walking pace. I know I could have bumped that ISO higher, but I wanted to keep the rich tones. So, I took the chance. Only minor blur...ah, we'll chalk that up to artistic license. Kind of a nice dark comic book feel to it. And there ya are!

PPS Hollywood Studios -- my absolute fave of all the Disney parks. I could visit there every day, and never get tired of shooting there. Wonderful photo ops -- every which way you look. Great ambiance, too.

Tower of terror edited by my daughter.

The full arc of the Milky Way is punctured by the tip of this white monolith rising from the desert floor in a desolate corner of southern Utah.

I had hiked nearly 5 miles on a warm and moonless May night specifically to photograph the famous "Towers of Silence" (aka Waheap Hoodoos). But when I got there, I happened to notice an odd-shaped 'headless' hoodoo standing forlornly in the wash about 100 yards (90 meters) to the east.

Over the next couple of hours while I was shooting the 'Towers of Silence,' I felt this nagging urge to keep glancing over at it. Misshapen and 'lumpy'...it wasn't particularly attractive but something about it kept tugging at the back of my brain.

Finally, I couldn't stand it anymore and walked over to check it out.

Glad I did.

As it turns out, when I got to the northern side of it, the malformed shape transformed into this near-perfect spear-point profile. Combined with the full spread of the Milky Way arching over it, the composition was just breathtaking.

Even better was that I've never seen a Milky Way shot of this spot before...which I find amazing since it is hidden in plain sight.

This image is a 12-frame pano. Five shots of the sky were taken at ISO 6400 for 13 seconds each. Seven shots of the foreground were taken at ISO 800 for 300 seconds each. Foreground illuminated by a Lume Cube on a 7' light stand. Stitched together in Photoshop. Milky Way processing via Astro Panel 5.1. Noise reduction via Topaz DeNoise AI. The glow of lights on the horizon is from Page, Arizona about 25 miles to the southwest.

As far as the name, well, I've never seen a name attached to this particular hoodoo, perhaps because everyone (myself included) fixates on the adjacent "Towers of Silence". So for my purposes (arrogant as they might be), I thought a good name would be the 'Tower of Terror.'

Like most seasoned photographers, I’m always looking to find a unique shot, rather than take the same one captured by thousands of folks before me. This image fulfills that need superbly. I am quite tickled that I found it.

Cheers!

Jeff

I decided to try my reverse selective coloring on this image of the Tower of Terror. As Tom and Scottwdw said, a shot with less bright blue sky would work better for this idea. I think it's rather obvious that they were correct, as I like this one a whole lot more. I also thought that using color of the hotel marquee was a nice touch. Thanks for lookin', and have a great day!

Looks pretty sweet On Black!

This shot made it to Explore! Thanks guys!

Ring the front desk if you need anything... like a pair of new underwear.

What is the room number? Wouldn't want to check into the wrong room.

Size matters, thats for sure, the control tower at Edinburgh Airport has no issues there, however when it comes to the sweet things in life, there's nothing like a Tunnocks teacake..

Still the original size, we all hope so....dont look down, look up.

I was really scoping the prospect of capturing this scene on this particular clear evening back in February. I had to be quick and patient here to deal with both the people walking by and the fact the conductor kept closing the trolley door which cut off the front light and illuminated “Buena Vista Street” sign. But alas, a little Photoshop Wizardry made this vision a reality. Can I also just say that the latest Lightroom 2015.6 is excellent with its better transform and upright tools. This shot was sort-of “falling over” as is common with photos shot with a wide-angle lens.

OK, I played with the levels on this one to make it look a bit more ominous! :)

When I see this sight at Disney's Hollywood Studios, I'm usually rushing towards the Tower of Terror to arrive before my FastPass+ runs out.

I recently spent two weeks in Japan and of course Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea had to be stops on the trip. Wow…is all I can say, what extraordinary attention to detail at the parks. I can see why some say DisneySea is the best Disney Park in the world. This is their Tower of Terror at American WaterFront in DisneySea.

I love this detail at Tower of Terror.

I teaching myself to do selective coloring, I gots some work to do.

Thanks for looking.

I was able to take this photo on one of the final nights for the Tower of Terror in California Adventure before its permanent closure. At the time I couldn't quite put my finger on what was different, but after I started doing digital work on the photo I realized that the owl sculpture that had been the centerpiece of the room was already gone. Looks like I'll have to head to Disney World if I ever want a photo of that creepy owl. Now here's hoping that the queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout will be half as classy as this one was!

Edit: Hooray! Many thanks to everyone who came and visited this picture to help it get Explored!

This is the first time I have been to the Studios at Christmas where I was able to see this show. I really love how they project the images on the Tower Hotel. Each year, Disney is getting more and more creative and stepping up their game. I wonder what will be next? Have a magical day!

Disney's Twilight Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at the end of Sunset Blvd. in Disney's Hollywood Studios on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida. Processed using the Creamtone Black & White Toned Preset in Lightroom CC Classic.

With Halloween approaching, a retro-look of what the Tower of Terror would look like for an episode of The Twilight Zone from the 1950's.

Today's little excursion takes us to Disney's Hollywood Studios for a shot of The Tower of Terror. If your looking for a quiet place to take photos without all the crowds, this is the place. As the park closes, let the crowds file out and hang back. The good thing is that you have it all to yourself while Fantasmic is still going on. Have you ever tried to do this? Have a great week!

EN: Season of The Force starts early this month in Disneyland Paris. Glad to see something great in our cheap "Walt Disney Studios Park" especially when you're waiting the 25th anniversary of the main park! Every night ('til end of march) you could enjoy a light show (with some pyros) on our Hollywood Tower Hotel (we keep our Twilight Zone's theme). It includes footages from the 8 Star Wars movies. The stage in front of the tower allows you to see Darth Maul, Kylo Ren, Darth Vador, Captain Phasma, C3PO,...

With a lot of uncertainly around the future of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as it reinvents itself, here’s a look at some of fantastically detailed architecture at Sunset Club Couture. I think it’s easy to miss the details in the buildings down Sunset Blvd, as generally people are drawn to the Tower of Terror looming at the end. I hope these stores will stay around whatever future comes to DHS.

Nothing worse than being too cool for Disneyland. And where exactly does he expect to get that lapdance?

This one turned out particularly nicely. The ToT onride has a nice Renaissance Tableau nature to it.

I have done this shot before but always at night and in a vertical orientation. I had been thinking it would be cool at blue hour so I made sure to make a stop here when the time came. I went with a horizontal framing this time, which I think I prefer now that I am seeing the results. I shot this with my Nikon 70-200 2.8 @ F3.5. I blended two shots together for this one though the second shot was only for the highlights on the tower sign and lights on the right hand side. The blue of the twilight hour really helps to compliment the purples and greens in the scene.
