i got off my ass on a cold, snowy sunday in denver and hauled it to the gym, WITH all my camera stuff, had a long, hard, exhausting and ultimately completely fulfilling workout AND took pictures to prove it in the WORST possible light ever.

This posting is entirely inspired from an ancient story my Teacher tells where a parrot flies around a village warning all the birds that the bird catcher is coming with his nets. All the birds manage to flee except for the poor parrot who does not know what he is saying. He hears the words but does not understand. He feels no elation in his own mechanical repetition.

the house is quiet. no more tiny feet tramping up the front steps, no more shaving-creamed teenagers draped in their parents' sheets, no more shy chaperones quietly ogling the pumpkins.
the kids were sweet this year -- more thank-you's than last year, and for once i didn't make any little girls cry with my badass witch hat.
i did spook isabel, though. she kept looking up at the hat, her eyes bulging from her little grey head. but then, just as she did with icebat, she conquered her fear and curled up in my lap, a stray neon hair caught in her paw.

Another selfie...I'm feeling braver. :) Complete with fly-away hair. (didn't feel like editing it yet...oops!) I wanted this to be lighter overall but I was in very harsh sunlight as you can see on my forehead. This is what I look like on a daily basis...always wearing my glasses. So much easier than contacts.

I have a way of poking at sore issues. not letting sleeping dogs lie, and so on. I always have to have the last word, I can't even fucking apologize without screwing up and sounding like a bitch. so this time, I'm keeping my mouth shut. I might upset someone else, but I have learned that
a) I CANNOT refuse to stand up and speak out when something NEEDS To be said.
b) I CANNOT make everyone happy, regardless.

Su Stella of Shreveport Holds Her Latest Fused Glass Creation
How did she get those bugs in there? You'll have to ask Su tomorrow at the Barnwell Center's Art Affaire in the Garden – an Arts Market on Sat, March 20, 10 am to 3 pm.
Says Whitney Lary, a treasure-trove of handcrafted works in glass, jewelry, fiber arts, mixed media, visual art, photography, sculptures and more can be found at the art's market. Art Affaire in the Garden will also be on April 17, and May 15 from 10am to 3pm.
Beginning in June, the arts market will be held every Saturday from 10 am to 3pm. Sponsored by The Friends of the Barnwell
