The diamond ring effect takes place just before and just after totality during a total solar eclipse. I missed getting a photo of the effect on the way INTO totality because I was so blown away by what I was seeing that I neglected to remove my filter! The images where the "diamond" is positioned at the top of my photos are inverted shots of my "post-totality" shots.
