Tristeza Graffiti..., porque un día se fué, una máquina despiadada derrumbó el muro y con ella se marchó la belleza de esta mujer.

The usually tame millstream bursts its banks after heavy December rain. At Staple Fitzpaine in Taunton Deane, Somerset.

Scale. To an insect or small animal, water gently tumbling over small rocks becomes a mighty torrent. When we look closely we can see what they see. In the scale of the universe, we are the "small players."

Wonderful walk with splendid weather in Valais in Switzerland

Moving upstream a little now towards Honister Pass and more water in here than I would have expected for a July day

The Female Torrent Duck (Merganetta armata) captured at PNN Farallones de Cali in Pichindé, near Cali, Colombia, is a testament to the beauty and adaptability of this species. This image showcases her distinctive gray head, bright rusty underparts, and intricately striped back, perfectly framed by the serene waters of her Andean habitat. The soft, natural light filtering through the forest canopy highlights her striking features and creates a tranquil atmosphere, enhancing the overall composition.

From a photographer’s perspective, capturing this elusive bird in her natural habitat was both challenging and rewarding. The fast-flowing streams of PNN Farallones de Cali required patience and precision to photograph the duck without disturbing her. Using a telephoto lens allowed me to capture the fine details of her plumage while maintaining a respectful distance. This photograph not only celebrates the Torrent Duck’s unique beauty but also underscores the importance of preserving such pristine environments.

Tuesday the Sheboygan area saw a torrential rainstorm that lingered. This morning I visited Sheboygan Falls, just west of Sheboygan and saw these scenes. This vast amount of water is headed for the Sheboygan riverfront and then will be thrust out into Lake Michigan. October came in like a lion, for sure!

This station is possibly one of the last remaining vestiges of the small train to Palamós.

From its beginnings, the line ran mostly alongside the Palamós road, passing through the centers of the towns along its route. The important stations were demolished many years ago...

Interestingly, near Torrent, the road ran through a small mountain pass with many curves, the "Revolts de Torrent," which prevented the railway from passing through. Thus, in this area, the line builders built a wide curved section around the small mountain pass to avoid it. The station was built within this section, in a beautiful spot in the Empordà region near the town. It still survives as best it can today...

This stream is normally just a trickle of water but after the heavy rains it became a little more impressive. To get a long exposure on the TZ3 I again set the camera to "Night Mode" even though it was mid afternoon!

N. King St., in downtown Honolulu, is filled with small shops that, at night, cover their windows with hoarding to protect against vandalism. During the day, shop-keepers pile the painted sheets of plywood on the sidewalk in front of their stores, inadvertantly creating wonderful abstractions.
