Romantic Moment

Today was bitter cold, wind chills to 30 below 0 (f). I had the day off and it was unreasonable to go out and photograph. So I photographed the details and impressions of the day. I did have to go out to the car dealership to get an oil change and I did go to the gym. However I spent the lion's share of the day looking at my razor, toothbrush, water dripping and my meals.

This is another of my friend, Don Davenport's creations that I photographed while we were visiting him in Grass Valley, California. Don gave this to me so it's proudly doing duty holding tooth brushes.

Strobist info: Lit with one YN560 in a 24 inch soft box placed in front and camera left about six inches from the subject. Fill light came from a large reflector disk hand held camera right. The flash, in manual mode, was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.

Our Daily Challenge ... brand new. Cant decide tonight!

My husband bought himself a pack of 6 toothbrushes recently. These are still brand new of course. If he changes his brush every 3 months as recommended they will last for2 years.

Weird, isn't it? Apparently, it's a Cryptolaemus beetle larva (thanks Nugmeg66). I found this in the butterfly house in London Zoo. I've upped the saturation a little, and darkened the shadows. That's all. I love this macro lens :-)

Nutmeg66 (thanks) tells me it's a Cryptolaemus beetle larva.

The keeper at Werribee Zoo knows the trick to get the Hippo's to open their mouths. It is a most impressive display. I' m glad this was not in the wild.
