Der weiße Tiger wirkte zum Glück nicht so als ob er Zahnschmerzen hätte, aber bei diesem Gesichtsausdruck kam mir dieser Text unweigerlich in den Sinn …

Fortunately, the white tiger didn't look as if he had a toothache, but this text inevitably came to mind when I saw the expression on its face ...

The famous Greek physician Dioscorides used black cumin seeds to treat headaches and toothaches. The reason might be found in the complex chemical structure of the seeds. These little seeds have over one hundred different chemical constituents, including abundant sources of all the essential fatty acids. Though it is the oil that is most often used medicinally, the seeds are a bit spicy and are often used whole in cooking—curries, pastries, and Mediterranean cheeses.

Wishing you all Health and Happiness !

No comment .... BUT ... Have a painless, “toothacheless” weekend!

BENNY:

Please Jago..... Can you help me. I have such a toothache. Mummy Marian gave me an aspirin, but it's not working.

I was down at the auto repair shop the other day. When I mentioned to the mechanic that I had a toothache, he said that he’d be happy to yank that sucker out for me. “Lie down right here and open wide,” he said. “I’ve got just the tool to do it.” ;-)

Our good friend Karöttchen was adopted by neighbours and had a great time with our cats and the three other neighbourhood cats until he unfortunately got a bad disease in October 2016 and had to go over the Rainbow Bridge. I still have fond memories of how I suffered from a severe toothache and how he calmly lay down on me to comfort me - I will never forget that, and, of course, my dear friend Karöttchen!

(Geranuim robertianum) a common wildflower from the cranesbill species, In traditional herbalism it was apparently used as remedy for toothache, nosebleeds and as a vulnerary. To some people its also known as stinky Bob because its freshly picked leaves have an odor resembling burning tyres.

Benny has a toothache.

Mummy Marian gave him an aspirin and his best friend Jago gave him hot tea and "melt-in-the-mouth" shortbread biscuits.

Peter also wants to help.

PETER:

Oleg.....I'll pick up something for Benny, but I'll be right back.

OLEG:

Is good

Peter searches in the toolbox ......

PETER:

Which pliers would be best?

This one...or this one...?

This one seems suitable to me .... it is big enough to pull out Benny's rotten tooth.

Ough... Those pliers are stuck. There's no movement.

There must be a way to get out of here.

Can someone tell me how to get out of here?

PETER (Gives Benny a kiss on the cheek)

BENNY:

What are you doing....?

I have a toothache!

PETER:

I kiss the sore spot so it hurts less.

I also brought 1 chocolate heart because today is a special day and on special days you can eat something sweet. That's good for the teeth. More sweets are bad.

BENNY:

And what kind of special day is it today?

PETER:

International Kindness Day. Today I am extra nice to you Benny!

What do you want to eat?

What do you want to drink?

Shall I rub your paws with olive oil? That makes them soft.

I also want to massage your neck.

Want to have a blanket to keep warm?

Shall I wash your back?

I'm going now...

BENNY:

Peter....Peter....Listen to me. I love you very much and want to thank you for everything you want to do for me. But .... I'd rather be alone

PETER:

Traditional medicine

See also: List of plants in The English Physitian

A. millefolium was used as in traditional medicine, possibly due to its astringent effects. Yarrow and its North American varieties were traditionally used by many Native American nations. The Navajo historically considered it a "life medicine" and chewed the plant for toothaches and used its infusions for earaches. The Miwok in California used the plant as an analgesic and head cold remedy. Native American nations used the plant for healing cuts and abrasions, for relief of ear-aches, and throat infections, and for an eye-wash. Common yarrow was used by Plains indigenous peoples to reduce pain or fever and aid sleep.

In the early 20th century, some Ojibwe people used a decoction of yarrow leaves on hot stones and inhaled it to treat headaches, or applied decoctions of the root onto skin for its stimulating effect.

This door gives access to the Oda Chapel, dedicated to Saint Oda and Saint Appolonia. The chapel owes its name to these saints. According to tradition, after many wanderings on the run from her father, Oda would eventually have arrived in Boshoven, where her stay was betrayed by a magpie, after which she would have gone to Sint-Oedenrode. Oda is invoked against eye diseases. Apollonia is invoked against toothaches (though I would advise you to go to docter...).

The chapel was restored in the 1980s and is now a national monument. The chapel is open on weekends for visitors and reflection. Masses are celebrated in February, May and November. The chapel can also be reserved for wedding masses, baptisms and other celebrations.

Rufus : "This wasn't going to be Mum's photo for today, especially as she hadn't washed the floor before she took my photo.

She had hoped to wake up to a white snowy garden, like the weather forecast had predicted. It even made the main News on the telly last night. The Cote d’Armor almost never has snow, but they said there was going to be a lot of it.

There wasn't, although it has been snowing this afternoon, but it didn't stick on the grass, even though it's still trying to. Maybe tomorrow, Mum."

What a week I have had. The huge positives and negatives with work and family life... and finally to cap it all off a weekend of excruciating toothache. It started as a niggle last week possibly brought on with stress and was just unbearable last night and today. I had an appointment with my own dentist booked for next Monday but I cant wait till then! Called 111 last night and got an emergency dental appointment later this afternoon... so hopefully they will manage to sort it out as toothache has to be one of the most annoying things! Well apart from scratching your eye which I done a few years ago which was sore... obviously there are more serious things! LOL but you get my drift...

I've stopped watching the news... Putin's rally was the last straw for me... I cant believe how the Russian people can be so brainwashed... but I guess its just the same as in previous episodes in history! The whole thing makes me so sad and stressed! These poor people and for nothing more than one man's ego! I get the whole point that the western world have done historic atrocities of our own... but surely the world is reaching the place where we are beyond war!

Sorry I've been so out of touch with comments the past few weeks it's just been a tricky few weeks... but with todays spring sunshine I hope the outlook is looking a lot more positive... time will tell!

Echinacea purpurea ‘White Swan’ bears ivory-white flowers with a mahogany-brown centre on tall stems during midsummer.

Equinacea originates from North America and was employed by the indigenous Indians. Information about the use of the plant from traditional healers ranges from external application for wounds, burns and insect bites to the chewing of roots for toothache and throat infections, and internal application for pain, coughs, stomach cramps and snake bites.

Being used to a big family gathering, last year was a weird affair, but this year will be different… I hope. With my family being scattered around the country, Christmas is really the only time of year we get together, Christmas is Christmas in our household. A funny thing to say you may ask, but it comes from my father in law Gino, he used to say it’s Christmas every day when you have your family around you, and that’s what it’s all about for me having the family under one roof. So preparations have be going on for weeks, parcels have been arriving every day, not only for indulging grandparents, parcels have been directed here by my dispersed family. Cleverly thinking if they send them here they won’t have to bring them up in the car, but my worry is will they have room to take them home again. With all this activity I have to be honest this new virus scare has me worried, until the family are here I won’t relax. It’s bad enough most years worrying about them travelling, driving up from Bristol is no cake walk, but now I’m anxious that they will get to the departure day without Omicron spoiling the show. I would guess we all in a similar boat, so I hope all your plans come together this Christmas. One boat you don’t want to be in is one in the middle of this storm, you could forget a toothache watching these waves.

Having to use my get out of jail free card for this weeks theme, having been housebound all week with manflu and now toothache I will not be able to get out for the shot I was hoping for !

And to top things off the rest off the household is ill too but only the daughter is off school at the moment.

Hopefully normal service resumed next week .

So my motion pic is from last autumn on the gelt.

A painting can be seen behind his desk, on which he is dressed as his great example the French Sun King Lodewick XIV, which he admired.

During this period his sexual orientation became increasingly visible and his homosexuality became known. In the meantime it was announced that he lived mainly at night, and retired and slept during the day.

During this period he suffered from severe toothache, while his behavior must have been terrible. He absolutely did not want any contact with his court.

The sad face of Witwe Bolte (Widow Tibbets in the English version; here she looks as if she had a toothache, doesn't she?) on the handle of the teaspoon from my childhood cutlery set. Witwe Bolte is a character featured in the first two verses/pranks (and the epilogue; my caption and sub-caption are the first two verses of that epilogue; the English translation is courtesy of David Gorman who translated the whole story) of Wilhelm Busch's "Max and Moritz: A Story of Seven Boyish Pranks". Max and Moritz is one of the most popular German children's books ever, published for the first time in 1865, and translated into 300 languages. The pranks are full of wicked humour, and when I was little, I didn't particularly like the characters of Max and Moritz because they were such nasty little boys who terrorized their whole village with the most outrageous pranks. In the end, they met an untimely end by being ground at the village mill and fed to the miller's geese (!). Pretty cruel, isn't it, but times were different (and much rougher) in 1865. Or were they?

So I guess my photo features what you might call my "signature macro colours", this time not achieved by using my makeshift colour filters, but makeshift reflectors instead, a new addition (next to the gold-coated cardboard) being a pink chocolate wrapper tin foil. I'm very busy at the moment, so I decided to stay in my comfort zone and just try to get a decent photo for the theme so as not to skip once again. The final image is a single shot, processed in DXO PL7, Analog Efex, and Lightroom.

Size of what you see of Widow Tibbets/the teaspoon's handle: 2 cm/0,78 inches.

Happy Macro Monday, Everyone! I'll try to catch up with you tonight!

Some parts of England had a first taste of wintry weather yesterday. Fortunately I still have some images from my trip to Arctic Norway in 2015. Very useful I can post a winter shot without having to go out into the snow. I still don’t know how Mary managed to persuade me to venture that far north in December. I know I am supposed to “embrace winter” but I sadly fail this test, its like embracing toothache

The image is the harbour at Tromso on the far side of the fiord you can just see the very modernistic Arctic cathedral. This was taken at 10.30 a.m. so its not technically a night shot though it might as well be

At the top of the comments is an image of the cathedral taken in June 2015 with very different light

I just liked the light, but the backstory is that this particular statute is called Christ with a Toothache. Apparently, three men once made fun of how it looked with cloth tied around it to hod down some flowers, saying it looked like he had a toothache. The next day, each of them had unexplainable toothaches which didn't go away - until they returned to the Stephansdom and begged forgiveness. Their pain ended within an hour, so the story goes.

This old DeSoto looks like it is suffering from a toothache.

While traveling north on I-5 toward home we diverted to a junk yard near Toledo, WA. The owner reported he had recently inherited the place from his brother who had operated the business for 50 years. Some of the vehicles looked like they had been in place for more than 50 years.
