Another Labour Day weekend canoeing and camping trip to Algonquin Park found in the Canadian province of Ontario. The 2018 edition of our yearly trip into Canadian's wilderness involved exploring Tom Thompson Lake. To me the best time for photography in this wilderness jewel is right at sunrise.

These are the two toms that initially started fighting and then two more joined in, as you saw in my post yesterday.

Tom the cat is a lot older now but I like this photo of him.

Tom C, stands for Tom Cat and White, of course, is the name of the company that produced this tractor. Below is the history of the White Motor Co.

In 1960, the White Motor Company entered the agricultural market with the purchase of the Oliver Farm Equipment Company. Oliver owned the Cletrac name which was started by Rollin White from the same family. In 1962, White acquired the Cockshutt Farm Equipment Company of Canada. White then increased its agricultural interests in 1963 with the acquisition of Minneapolis-Moline.

In 1969, Oliver, Minneapolis-Moline and Cockshutt were merged to form White Farm Equipment with headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, USA; White Motor Corporation's headquarters remained in Cleveland, Ohio. Six years later, Oliver, Minneapolis-Moline and Cockshutt were folded into the White brand. The green of Oliver, red of Cockshutt and yellow of Minneapolis-Moline tractors was replaced by the silver tractors of White's "Field Boss" line. From 1974 the tractors were rebranded as White.

White produced tractors, combine harvesters, swathers, outdoor equipment such as lawn tractors and chainsaws, corn planters, tillage equipment such as ploughs, disks and field cultivators, manure spreaders and hay equipment, a full line.

This is my dog, who is called Tom, it is a grace and poses to take pictures.

Florida is home to two of the five wild turkey subspecies in the United States, with the Osceola turkey named after the famed Seminole chief (also known as the Florida wild Turkey species) found in peninsular Florida, being the smallest of the five. While similar in appearance to the eastern subspecies that inhabits the rest of the eastern seaboard and northern Florida, the Osceola turkeys are usually smaller and darker in color.

The flight feathers of the wings have less white barring, with the white bars being narrower and irregular and black bars dominating their wing feathers. Osceola turkeys also have more iridescent green and red hints in the feathers than the eastern subspecies found in northern Florida and the east coast of the U.S. Those darker colors and longer legs of the Osceola turkey make them better adapted to survive in Florida’s varied habitats. While the differences between the Osceola Turkey and Eastern Turkey are subtle, the Osceola is one more animal that makes Florida a special place.

I found this "Tom" (Adult Male), along with a juvenile turkey, and about 20 others, in the pasture just off of Joe Overstreet Road in Osceola County, Florida.

One Tom turkey that is part of my backyard gang! I have 20 hens and 5 toms that are hooked on my "corn kitchen".

This is a never-posted shot from a series of photos I took in 2008 of Wild Turkeys near Little River. I pulled over and shot them from across a road - so this is as good as I could get zooming with my old S3. I've posted other shots over the years - have never gotten that close to Tom Turkeys again! Have a good Thanksgiving week!

The funeral service yesterday was very beautiful. Exactly what Tom would have loved. The singing was exquisite, the church beautiful and everything was conducted with great dignity. If you wish to listen/see any of it you can find it here.

Delphiniums in the flower display. I love delphiniums. They always remind me of the days when I used to go to Chelsea flower show and see wonderful displays of them. I stopped growing them myself in the end as they were so popular with the slugs and snails.

Thank you to all of you for your support these last few weeks. I have had so much kindness which has carried me through and helped to give me hope for the time ahead. Many friends of Tom's and of his family were at the funeral whose names I knew well but who I had never met. It was all very encouraging.

A modern-day warrior

Mean, mean stride

Today's Tom Sawyer

Mean, mean pride

Though his mind is not for rent

Don't put him down as arrogant

His reserve, a quiet defense

Riding out the day's events

The river

What you say about his company

Is what you say about society

Catch the mist

Catch the myth

Catch the mystery

Catch the drift

The world is, the world is

Love and life are deep

Maybe as his skies are wide

Today's Tom Sawyer, he gets high on you

And the space he invades, he gets by on you

No, his mind is not for rent

To any god or government

Always hopeful, yet discontent

He knows changes aren't permanent

But change is

And what you say about his company

Is what you say about society

Catch the witness

Catch the wit

Catch the spirit

Catch the spit

The world is, the world is

Love and life are deep

Maybe as his eyes are wide

Exit the warrior

Today's Tom Sawyer

He gets high on you

And the energy you trade

He gets right on to

The friction of the day

Tom has been on the lam for some time. He is somewhat of a celebrity in southside OKC as he made the local news more than once. He roams freely and even stops traffic at times. He gave me the courtesy of letting me photograph him behind the local Burger King where he dines quite well.

Not really sure why I took this but I like it......!

Mr. Tom and his buddy along with two hens came strolling and scratching through my yard yesterday evening at dusk. I thought the group dynamics were pretty interesting! It's good to see my own personal lawn aerators back again as they have been missing all winter long.

I have the Grandbaby with me and she and I are heading to Roanoke to church this morning. It will be an adventure and the first time going without Anita who has other things to attend to this morning. It's going to be an Adventure for sure! Happy Sabbath everyone!

Tom took this on a walk the other day. I think it's a masterpiece.

Wildlife photographer Tom Murphy is well known for documenting the beauty and wildlife of Yellowstone National Park. He spent many years capturing the beauty of the Yellowstone wilderness. In my trip to Yellowstone NP last February, my friends and I had the pleasure of meeting him. The next day, with Murphy's guidance, we were able to find this stunning lone tree. Local people call it the Tom's tree.

I took this on my second walk of the morning up in the Lakes. I walked from Torver up to Banishead Quarry first thing and then made my way to Yew Tree Tan and walked up Tom Ghyll to Tarn How's. There are a number of waterfalls on this stretch of the Ghyll and I wanted to play with my new gear, so I took a number of different compositions experimenting with shutter speeds and ISO. The texture in the water was nice at these settings and made a nice contrast with the ferns on the side of the rocks.

It did take a few shots to try and get the ferns as still as possible as there was a breeze coming up the valley. I will post another soon of the big falls a little higher up with a longer shutter speed providing a completely different feel! Again I was happy with the Z7ii with the 14-30 lens and the NISI V7 filter kit was certainly much more easy to handle after the huge filters I had to use on my D850 DSLR with the 14-24 lens.

Coronavirus hero Captain Tom Moore has been promoted to Colonel on his 100th birthday. The veteran has raised over 30 million pounds for the NHS. His big day will also be marked with a flypast by a Spitfire and a Hurricane over his Bedfordshire home.

Happy 100th birthday Colonel Tom. You are an inspiration and epitomise everything that is, a British soldier 🇬🇧
