Toledo is a city in central Spain, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1986.
Toledo is known as the "Imperial City" because it was the headquarters of the court of Charles V, and as the "City of Three Cultures" because of the cultural influence of Christians, Muslims and Jews in its history. It is known for its long history in the production of edged weapons.
The city sits on top of a mountain, bordered on three sides by the Tagus River, containing many monuments, including the Alcazar and the Gothic Primate Cathedral of Spain.

Successively a Roman municipium, the capital of the Visigothic Kingdom, a fortress of the Emirate of Cordoba, an outpost of the Christian kingdoms fighting the Moors and, in the 16th century, the temporary seat of supreme power under Charles V, Toledo is the repository of more than 2,000 years of history. Its masterpieces are the product of heterogeneous civilizations in an environment where the existence of three major religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam – was a major factor.

The Toledo Cathedral is one of the most striking Gothic cathedrals in Europe.
It is believed that Toledo was built in the place where Virgin appeared to St. Ildefonsus. Actually, the Cathedral is located in the place of the former church of the King Recarreda and the Muslim mosque.
Constructed on the site of a former Grand Mosque, the Catholic Cathedral of Toledo was built between the years 1226 and 1493 . That is 267 years of construction!
The vestry of cathedral keeps a lot of religious artefacts (for example, different ritual clothes, embroidered with the precious stones, put over the statue of Virgin during the solemn worships. These clothes are stored in the chests, made of the precious breeds of marble. Toledo Cathedral also keeps many outstanding works of art (more than in any other Spanish cathedral).
Panorama of the skyline in Toledo, OH with the Maumee River in the foreground. This is my first successful panorama and I think it turned out pretty well, overall. I really dig the tall building left of center that allows the warm light from the setting sun to peek through.
This scene is soon to change when ProMedica builds their headquarters in place of the old Steam Plant and erects a parking garage right next to it.
This image is a bit more cluttered with people and objects than I would have liked but then again its a busy railway station . The train station in Toledo in Spain did I feel warrant a photograph it looks l more like a Moorish palace than somewhere to board a train.
The Toledo railway station was designed by architect Narciso Clavería y de Palacios in the Neo-Mudéjar style The station was opened in 1919 . It was designed to echo the historic architecture of the city. The central section is flanked by two side naves, one of which is adjacent to the clock tower, which imitates the style of Toledo church towers.
The station has been declared a Property of Cultural Interest and classified as a monument.
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.
I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD NOT FAVE A PHOTO WITHOUT ALSO LEAVING A COMMENT .
Coaling tower this time. Here si CSX train #335, a Walbridge to Grand Rapids evening/overnight turn, passing the coaling tower at the grass covered Toledo Terminal engine facility. I have the date on the slide as 8/13/1988 but see I previously posted one as 8/7/1988 which I now think is wrong. NR Tower might correct me since he was there too. The normal assignment for the F units at this time was the the roadrailer that ran out of Detroit but on days off they would sometimes be used on this out and back turn. We would use the 800 tracing number to know if they were in Walbridge or not. And on this day it worked out that they were.
