Third Street Is Named Hoffman Boulevard In Honor of Ashland Boys' Association President

When adjournment of the Ashland Boys' Association meeting was about to be taken in 1937. Just after the Ashland Boys' Association approved $7,000 to erect Whistler's Mother as the Mother's Memorial statue. Oscar Nolte arose to ask President Dr. J. L. Hoffman to relinguish the chair to Vice President Horn. Walter Payne was then called upon to present a matter which he said, has been on his mind for some time. Mr. Payne reviewed the splendid work that has been done by President Hoffman as President of Ashland Borough Council and as a token of the Ashland Boys Association's gratitude he suggested Ashland name South Third Street to "Hoffman Boulevard." A motion was immediately made by Messrs Burchfield and Meiswinkel and passed amid vociferous applause. Dr. Hoffman was much affected by the action of the Ashland Boys Association to defer tribute until his demise but everybody was enthusiastic in their desire to honor the association's faithful president now while he is still alive and at work in Ashland. --Ashland Daily News 1937

The Mother's Memorial (Whistler's Mother) statue in Ashland purposely overlooks Hoffman Boulevard. The Ashland Boys' Association members wholeheartly wanted to honor a man that has done everything to make the statue project a reality. This photo is Dr J. L. Hoffman's Memorial today along his honored street - Hoffman Boulevard in memory.

These tokens were given to everyone who came to witness Atlantis being turned over from NASA to the Delaware North Companies who run the Kennedy Space Center visitor place. While it was put in a very cheap case, the token seems to not be cheap. Admission to the event certainly was great enough to pay for something better than a cheap arcade token. I'm no expert in the quality of these items, though, so I can't tell how not-cheap it might be. No matter, though; I'm keeping it.

Poorly designed TTC token machine. It's not even bilingual and when the price increases, the machine pricing becomes that you get less tokens and get a bunch of change in return. awkward usage.

Dig my token collection. I worked hard to get one from just about every arcade I frequented.

This was a Billingsgate Market tally and the address of 21 Fish Street Hill is situated near the north bank of the Thames next to London Bridge in London.

The Pan-tec-ne-thec-a was a moving panorama "film" that ran at Platt's New Music Hall in San Francisco in September 1862. The political token represented the strong political support for the Union centered in San Francisco. Was the token used as an entry ticket or was it a gift awarded to lucky attendees as described in advertisements in 1862? The token is ex-Eric P. Newman collection. Is R.B.G. Robert B. Gray, manufacturing jeweler and fractional gold maker with his business in San Francisco?

At time of taking, each is worth 4UAH and good for one journey.

On departure from Gotherington, 'tokens' have to be exchanged before the train can proceed. The Token system is an old but very reliable method of allowing only one train into a section at any one time.

Having tokens sealed into bullae-envelopes proved unsuitable for more complex trading records. This led to a simpler system of recording numbers and items directly onto clay fashioned into different shapes developing circa 3,500-3,200 BCE.

Here we see two numbers, three & four, being used to represent measures of two kinds of commodities.

This token measures 4x3cm and contains three small circular depressions and four short wedges.

Despite being a short line, with only two stations, the railway still operates a token exchange to allow the train to proceed onwards from the main yard.
