While watching a friend’s bad playing al fresco at a pub, I kept waiting for the right opportunity to photograph their tip jar. After their second set, I grabbed the shot. I especially liked how the lighting on the patio really added a layer of interest to the scene—much better than the pre-sunset light.
This is a JPG straight from the camera. I shot with my Fujifilm X100F, using the RAW+JPG setting, but in this case the camera’s JPG rendering was a beautiful representation of how I aw the scene.
Gear: Fujifilm X100F, 23mm fixed lens (35mm equivalent on full frame).
Exposure: 1/30 at f/2, ISO 5000, ambient light

Buskers. You'll be able to find everywhere in the world someone trying to tell you a story by facing you directly, never behind the shelter given by a stage of a concert.
But in NYC, accordingly to the culture of "selling everything in the best way as possible", you'll find not only buskers, but also marketing experts: precise choice of look and style, great music and voice, a well made cd with a high level of recording, a link to the major social networks, high communication skills and , obviously, a large "container" for tips.
The result is the general NYC equation: creativity=money

Artist's Statement
My work is an attempt to give voice to inner psychological and/or spiritual states of being. What is of primary importance to me is that the figures contain particular aspects of humanity which they can mirror back to the viewer. It's the vulnerability of Humanity I am after. That is one reason for choosing very old or very young subjects. They both can portray innocence as well as extreme complexity.
Often they seem best portrayed as dolls. This can remove them one step from being so literal yet still allow the psychological weight. Perhaps that is something not noticed immediately yet allows the viewer easier access. To myself I can muse about the viewers engagement with them as dolls however It is the felt response I am after in every case.

its a whisper that a heart aches for a thousand moons
its a gleam, a shimmer off the heaving sea on the bluest night
its the scent of the flowing strands of silky hair that mesmerize
its the longing of the forlorn eyes that makes a heart sink
