The act of lamenting can help overcome entrenched denial because it puts truth into the open and brings awareness in accumulating layers of that which has been denied. Chances that one will become aware, she claims, are β€œin direct proportion to the amount of truth you can take without running away.” Lamenting β€œenables individuals and communities to break with the past without forgetting it,” and so can be a public act of reconciliation (Ackermann 52, 51, 55).

-Lamentations and the Tears of the World, Kathleen M. O’Connor

If it is true that β€œhopeless grief is passionless,” then Lamentations must be hopeful, for it is β€œpassion-full.” It seeks access to God through an excess of β€œshrieking and reproach.” It lets loose tears and chips away at the hardened, marbled statue of the spirit. The Bible's most comfortless book opens the way to comfort.

THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE...who do not understand the definition of despondency or depression; they are fortunate. They are not necessarily the rich or the poor--depression can effect anyone in any economic zone. Many times, one has no clue why a sudden mood of depression or despondency overcomes them and creates anxiety. Is it a character flaw? I would like to think not. Who knows why one can be happy for weeks at a time and then, without warning, they are zapped with a surge of depression that is so intense they feel hopeless. Sometimes, the only way to cope is to relax beside the sea and listen to surf beating against the boulders.

Seriously, blue skies should be banned from puzzles.

Some people have too much time on their hands

I just spent 4 hrs of a summer evening playing the xbox..... :(

We need a trailer relay. And a fuse or two. And a hitch.

Saturday was a complete let down at theis years Northampton balloon festival!!!

The only interesting thing was the REDROW team Inflating their Balloon whilst it was tethered to 3 4x4 vehicles, this lasted less than 5 minutes

There were no flights at all due to higher wind speeds

The first two buses were packed but yours truly managed to hitch a ride with the third one.

Bit of a time waster. Note the tools don't take into account text over images. The tools themselves are pretty useless in themselves but show how you can add to basic images. Impressed in a sort of goofy way.

The image is of Lego Duplo blocks we use modelling software layers. This particular day we compared a software model we had talked about a couple of years ago that we had modelled with how we now see it. Theres nothing quite like the tactile feel building with lego blocks. If you look carefully you can see the labels representing layers in the design.

btw it's Created with fd's Flickr Toys.

I guess it's easier to just give numbers, so I don't have to think about titles for every fuckin' single picture. Well, all that train stuff is somehow growing on me, I guess I'll just make it a series. :P

Anyway, this was mostly a timewaste 'cause my train was twenty minutes late. So I tried out some shots with white balance set to "sun". It's still not completely as it really looked, but much better than automatic white balance, plus it should be similar to the result a film would have given (because most films use to have a "fixed" white balance for sunlight).

By the way, a tip: Although the Image Stabilizer rocks, in can sometimes be nasty. I put the camera on a bridge (because I had obviously no tripod with me), but I got one shaky photo after the other. Then I just switched the IS off and everything was fine.

In the 19 century Jersey decided to build a breakwater stretching out 1.6km on the eastern French side, to create a defensive harbour. After many years of construction and £££s it was completed, then some bright spark decided to check the depth of the water and realised it was too shallow for mooring boats!!! Still it makes a nice walk on a sunny day πŸ˜„
