A badminton-themed cake for my inaanak, Gaby, as she celebrated her 9th birthday. i got the design from a very old sports-themed cake decorating book from my sister, Ditas. Originally it was a tennis court, which i turned into a badminton court for Gaby's cake. Thanks to Bessie for the badminton 101 crash course. haha. :p
I have met Frank in 2009. He had a coffee shop in the middle of the CUC campus, close to their international hotel. It was one of the few places in Beijing, and the only one around CUC, that would serve you with a tasty western-style coffee. I adored that place. When I met Frank in 2009 he was just starting his business. He was optimistic. In 2012, due to financial pressures and the recession, Frank is closing the caffee. This photo was taken during the last day of the place being open.

I found this album at a rummage sale at one of the local high school recently. The vinyl is trashed, but no matter.
The song "Time Out," along with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, were featured at a great art exhibition at OCMA, called "The Birth of Cool," earlier this Winter. The exhibit focused on the explosively creative decade from the late 50's to the late 60's, centered right here in Southern California. Brilliant stuff, and a great exhibit.
