Tate & Lyle factory, Silvertown, East London.
The company was formed in 1921 from a merger of two rival sugar refiners Henry Tate & Sons and Abram Lyle & Sons.
Henry Tate established his business in 1869 in Liverpool, later expanding to Silvertown in the East End of London: he used his industrial fortune to found the Tate Gallery in London in 1897, and endowed it with his own collection of pre-Raphaelite paintings.
Abram Lyle, a cooper and shipowner, acquired an interest in a sugar refinery in 1865 in Greenock and then at Plaistow Wharf, West Silvertown, London.The two companies had large factories nearby each other – Henry Tate in Silvertown and Abram Lyle at Plaistow Wharf – so prompting the merger.
Better than spending the afternoon in front of a screen. Relaxing by the canal side rod in hand. Who cares if you catch nothing in four hours. Spring warms your forehead instead.
Just down the road form Forrest, in the Great Otway National Park.
Used a variable ND filter, .8 second exposure.
It's always good to sit down and reflect on life.

Es ist Zeit für eine Auszeit in Flickr.
Der Grund? Flickr begeistert mich nicht mehr so wie früher und ich befinde mich in einer kreativen Sackgasse.
Werde ab und an vorbeischauen....aber eine Zeit lang mal nichts posten und auch wenig kommentieren.
Ich wünsche Euch alles alles gute und man sieht sich irgendwann wieder...versprochen.
Den Zeitpunkt kann ich jetzt noch nicht voraussagen

12月11日木曜｡久しぶりに時間ができて仕事帰りにフォルチェに行った｡
マネージャーS氏が、先日見せていただいたTimeOutの続きをすぐ見られるようにと用意してくれていた｡
この大型判の方は普段テーブル席のお客様の後ろにあるので、すぐ出せない時も・・・ときいていたのです。嬉しかった｡

Nota : Chez moi, ceux qui bénéficient le plus de cette étrange immobilisation spatio-temporelle, ce sont les vieux bibelots sans valeur, remisés (ai-je le droit de dire "confinés" ?) au fond du placard depuis des décennies, et qui en profitent malicieusement pour faire un inespéré "come-back" sous les feux de la rampe...
Gargouille "low cost" en plâtre, un des derniers souvenirs des voyages heureux et hexagonaux de mon enfance (années 60) qui a miraculeusement échappé à la casse et à la poubelle !…
L'original du monstre, stryge perché en haut des tours de Notre-Dame depuis Viollet le Duc, après avoir échappé à l'incendie de 2019, savoure désormais, et depuis dix jours, sa solitude au soleil, et poursuit sans relâche sa contemplation mélancolique d'un Paris ensoleillé... mais viral…

Where does youth go? Does it want to flee or feel it needs to? What if we allow just the tiniest morsel of our inner child to remain present? At best why not permit a more current and accounted for version?
This thought attracts my attention. It couldn't hurt anything. Be it an uncensored giggle, better yet a laugh-out-loud, or a round of dress up with kiddos, yourself, or friends? And why not consider pulling off your shoes and walking barefoot outside? How long since you left shoes behind and felt bare flesh upon the Earth?
I am thinking back to the timeouts of childhood. Perhaps there's more to those snippets of stillness than I once thought. Maybe a few quiet moments of considering our actions is something we can permit to be present from our childhood. Recognizing the beauty of the day at hand, honoring the less obvious, and allowing our bodies to merely breath in and breath out are benefits of timeouts, as well.
I've walked past this mural on numerous occasions and thought that I should share it with you.

Killick’s hyper-detailed paintings are influenced by his underwater explorations as a keen wreck diver. He spends much of his time in the English Channel amongst the multitude of ship carcasses that are spread across the sea-bed below one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. It is a dark, dangerous place, often with little or no light, and barely any visibility. Within the narrow beam of torchlight, Killick crawls along the sea floor, closely studying the multitudes of life forms that are drawn to these unnatural reefs. Perhaps due to the intense focus this type of diving requires, the work is often reminiscent of electron microscope photography, and biological forms appear that are cell-like or bacterial. Although the works appear to be derived from the careful study of organisms, they are in fact entirely fabricated.
Killick pioneered a new painting technique using oils, glass, perspex and LED lighting in the realisation of this exhibition. Using oils diluted to a semi transparent state, the artist applies the paint to the glass in a process of addition and subtraction, over and over, to build up a sense of depth and overlay. This process means that each work has to be completed in one continuous application with no break until the work is complete. Re-working at a later stage is not an option, as the layer of paint is so fragile, that any further application would destroy the image.
