Wij willen Doel niet overleven,
Het moet na ons nog voortbestaan.
Wij zullen zelf nog eerder sneven,
Dan toe te zien op zijn vergaan.
Dorpen verdwijnen door de golven
Van stormvloed, ontij of orkaan.
Maar ’t graf van Doel wordt nu gedolven
Door winstbejag en grootheidswaan.
Uitbreidingswaan van de baronnen,
Die mensen zien als hinderpaal.
Voor hersenspinsels van verzonnen
Voordeel voor een areaal.
Het areaal van polderkankers
Met een hoogmoedig arsenaal
Containers, bulk en supertankers
Als Vlaend’rens hoogste ideaal.
Meer dan een doel is Doel een klacht
Tegen het slaafse landsbeleid
Ten dienste van een bovenmacht
Waar mens noch dier noch plant gedijt.
Het dorp moet ons ooit overleven
Als een symbool van een gevecht
En van een onomkoopbaar streven
Naar onvervreemdbaar woningrecht.
