As heat and hunger took their toll, some people decided to take sometime off gambling nearby banana trees.

It's good to take a time out from time to time sit back and relax

This was my first timeout from my boyfriend!!

Took the Piccadilly/Central out here--little over an hour from our hotel. I'd read about it in my TimeOut guidebook, and given it was Saturday night and we were in London, it sounded like just the thing. Well, it was. We showed up at around 10:30 to find a good-sized crowd/line gathered in front. I asked the dude out front how long, about, would be the wait, to which he responded, 'could be over an hour.' Phooey. I wasn't havin' any of that, but then--presumably recognizing my 'not from here' manner of speech--the nice man asked where we were from/how we'd heard about the club. I promptly whipped out my wee book--yes I did--and pointed to the thumbs-up review of the place. This seemed to please him, as did the fact that I'd come from New York (I frequently got a positive reaction when folks learned this), so he told us to 'come back in 10 minutes--walk around the block or something--and I'll let you two in.'

Once inside, we had a good ol' time. W/ its salty cabaret theme, the setup sorta reminded me of Galapagos/Rififi/Slipper Room, which, turns out, is precisely the intention (met the evening's organizer, who said as much). The music was fantastic--the best I could've hoped for. Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, The Smiths, etc.--we grooved our arses straight off. Nice memory: Dancing to/singing along w/ "A Little Respect" w/ T. Yeah!

Familiar to some, I'm sure. I was never sent to time out because I was a very well behaved child.

Though, I do have some fussy memories of being chased after a lot by my grandfather for saying and doing the wrong things.
