[FORT SNELLING, MN] — May 27, 2021: Today, Governor Tim Walz launched ‘Your Shot to Summer,’ the state’s COVID-19 vaccine incentive campaign encouraging Minnesotans to roll up their sleeves and get their COVID-19 vaccine during the next month.

 

The campaign aims to get 70 percent of Minnesotans 16 years of age and older vaccinated by July 1. The first 100,000 Minnesotans who get their first shot between May 27 and June 30 will be able to choose the reward of their preference from a wide-ranging list of options, including state parks passes, fishing licenses, and tickets to various summer attractions and events.

[ST. PAUL, MN] — May 17, 2021: Governor Tim Walz today announced that he has reached a bipartisan budget agreement with Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka and House Speaker Melissa Hortman that supports working families, ensures students continue to catch up on learning, and helps small businesses to drive Minnesota’s economic recovery.

There were two Harris / Walz yard signs that really captured my attention. Both were homemade. One made me laugh. This one made me smile. It stood in stark contrast to the many Trump signs conveying anger and grievance. How much better is this than the typical yard sign? Maybe candidates should have contests encouraging supporters to come up with their own campaign artwork. If Harris loses, I will think of the person that made this sign and feel bad for him or her. (My guess is "her" and that she is a teacher.)

 

I was lucky to come across this one. I discovered it on a random street in Pocatello, Idaho, that I never would have been on had my GasBuddy app not led me on a wild goose chase. As I photographed it, a car paused at a nearby intersection and watched. I wondered if the driver thought I was going to vandalize or steal it. As soon as I turned around to return to my truck, the car drove off.

Timothy James Walz, aka Tim Walz, is an American a former schoolteacher, and retired US Army non-commissioned officer who has served as the 41st governor of Minnesota since 2019. He is the Democratic Party's nominee for vice president in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. He was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2019, and was the ranking member of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee from 2017 to 2019.
