In my hometown there is an old Hotel which was used as a hospital(Lazarett) during the 2nd World War. ..... Lately ,at a visit, I noticed this old sign at the wall....It´s the sign of the "Red Cross", if you can imagine!!!?? Times and weather have washed the white colour......Tiles have been replaced ....History!!!!Today " Johannes Itten " would have been enthusiastic about the colours:-)))).. I´m really flashed , anyway<3
when I walked back to the hotel after enjoying my dinner, I spotted this beautifully tiled sidewalk, cleaned up for the night.
There are only a few of such beautiful in the streets of the heritage district George Town. This one id to complete my sidewalk series from Penang.

Details of the Victorian wall tiles in the art gallery café, on the Headrow in Leeds
This magnificent Victorian Tiled Hall was opened in 1884 and was initially Leeds Central Library reading room. From 1888-1941 it functioned as the sculpture court for Leeds Art Gallery next door.
During 1955-2007 it became part of the Library. However, all the tiles hid behind wooden panels and bookcases.
Renovations in 2007 revealed the original fabric of the room, and the space became a now-iconic café.
Black and white was photography brings out the detailed relief on these tiles using natural light.

It wasn't until I got up close I realised how intricate the tile work encasing the Opera House is. There are several different patterns used each reflecting light differently.

I always miss summer, so I made this composite, imagining I was a little ladybug enjoying the sun. 🐞Lately, I have been loving black backgrounds, but I just needed an interjection of COLOR. It is so white, grey and brown right now! Plus, we are losing a beautiful tree tomorrow. 😢 It is diseased and we need to take it out before birds start nesting in it this spring. I am so sad!
The Penrose Paving is constructed from just two different diamond-shaped granite tiles, each adorned identically with stainless steel circular arcs. There are various ways of covering the infinite plane with them, matching the arcs. But every such pattern is non-repetitive and contains infinitely many exact copies of what you see before you.

Modernist Hydraulic Tiles are a type of decorative concrete tile that gained prominence in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly associated with the Modernisme (Catalan Art Nouveau) movement.
Croft Castle
These wonderful floor tiles are in the Church Of St. Michael and All Saints at Croft Castle. They date mostly from the 15th century, but some are even older. They were moved to the church from the former Croft Castle when it was demolished in the 17th century. Various designs can be seen (although I haven’t been able to get the entire floor in the photo) these include, abstract patterns, Coats of Arms, including those of England and France, along with leading families of the period. Although they are now all mixed up, originally the groups would have formed geometric patterns.

A timely shot as so often there is a magpie up there , but in not enough numbers to constitute Multiples .
Forgive me if I do not get to do any comments on the other SSC shots this week as I am not sure how long I will be in - I will endeavor to catch up as soon as I can .
