On a road trip through South Africa we stopped at Tiger Canyons near Philippolis. Founded by John Varty, a South African conservationist and filmmaker, Tiger Canyons is like a small national park John drives through with you telling you about tigers.

The Malayan tiger (Panthera tigris jacksoni) is a tiger subspecies that inhabits the southern and central parts of the Malay Peninsula and has been classified as endangered by IUCN in 2008 as the population was estimated at 493 to 1,480 adult individuals in 2003; none of the three subpopulations likely harbors more than 250 mature breeding individuals, with a declining trend. Threats

Habitat fragmentation due to development projects and agriculture are serious threats.[7] Commercial poaching occurs at varying levels in all tiger range states. In Malaysia there is a substantial domestic market in recent years for tiger meat and manufactured tiger bone medicines.

Something must have caught it's eye here, observing how intently is it's gaze here. Maybe the group of rowdy students beside me looks delicious to him. Btw, did u notice it's clear blue eyes here?

I really enjoy visiting the Amur tiger section at Longleat, as I find them extremely beautiful animals. The tigers at Longleat are well looked after, and the zoo keepers are very good at feeding times as they occasionally hide the meat in the branches of trees so that when the tigers are let into their enclosure they have to search for their food. Amur tigers are fully mature and able to mate from 4 years of age. Their cubs are born small, helpless and blind and depend on their mother for safety and for the mother’s milk. Tiger cubs grow very fast and will be almost 4 times their original size after just one month. The Amur tiger is also known as the Siberian tiger, and are considered to be the largest of all of the big cats. They have many stripes; however no two tigers have the same stripe pattern. Amur tigers are now protected by law in the wild and are linked to conservation project.

Another tiger sat further inside the enclosure.

These 2 tiger cubs have just been on display at the zoo for about a week. They are adorable.
