Great Blue Herons doing their courtship dance. I have never seen them so elegant. At first I thought they were going to fight but instead they greeted each other with wings sweeping the water, ruffled feathers and synchronized walking- heads high. Just amazing to watch.

Thank you all for taking a look at my images, much appreciated!

Willet

From Audubon:

A Willet standing on the beach is simply a large plain shorebird; but its identity is obvious as soon as it spreads its wings, and it even calls its name in flight. Two distinct populations inhabit North America, one nesting in prairie marshes, the other in salt marshes along the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. In favorable areas in the middle Atlantic states, Willets are abundant, nesting in colonies, their ringing calls echoing across the tidelands on spring mornings.

I photographed this one just after sunrise along the ocean.

Yesterday, the "Tideland Olympics" (Wattolümpiade) took place again, I recently posted a photo from the last one two years ago. Away from the sports player I saw these two couples, rolling in the mud... They seemed to have a lot of fun.

PS: There was a firefighter in constant use with the fire hose, for the coarse dirt. There was also an open shower and I am sure everyone has additionally thoroughly taken a shower at home.

Again and again at low tide, the seabed reveals itself anew. For the seabirds it is the big table of gifts that opens up. They help themselves at the nursery of the sea.

Immer wieder bei Ebbe zeigt der Meeresboden sich aufs Neue. Für die Seevögel ist es der grosse Gabentisch der sich auftut. Sie bedienen sich an der Kinderstube des Meeres.

Sometimes when you are at the most beautiful places, the industry stands in your way. How important it is for our lives, we now find out especially where it has come to a standstill. Both simply belong to us. So we live with these pictures.
