As well as going to the boulangerie which you see in the photo, we also dropped by the Mairie (Town Hall) which was just off camera in order to sign the Book of Condolence which has been opened for Mimi, one of our neighbours who died suddenly at the weekend. The Book of Condolence is set outside the main entrance to the Mairie in a desk-type piece of furniture with a glass lid covering the book. The legs of the desk are surrounded by black velvet. If you're from the village and you die then the Mairie is informed and they prepare a Book of Condolence for each person and which people from the village who knew the deceased can come and pay their respects with a message and their name. It's a sad thing to have to do but in its way, if I may describe it as such, a charming village ritual.

My favorite "sunrise in paradise" location on Key West. These palms are featured on Jimmy Buffett's A1A album, and the back cover is about 50 yards north of here. While he lived here this was a favorite spot of his and he wrote a few songs here. Have been attempting to get the best shot of these palms for many years. I'M STILL TRYING!

Twee dagen geleden kwamen we Flickr-gebruiker Tricky92 tegen die de fraaie ochtendstek boven Königstein toen wel heeft gevonden. Met behulp van enkele foto's van hem namen we deze ochtend nogmaals de gok en klommen we omhoog om uiteindelijk vrij eenvoudig de stek te vinden. Het uitzicht was hier toch wel op zijn fraaist en je staat heerlijk in het bos zonder last te hebben van de warme zon. Het bleef deze donderdagochtend helaas wel erg rustig kwa treinen maar gelukkig liet de Eurocity 173 naar Praag en Budapest ons niet in de steek. Getrokken door de rood-witte 371 004 met één DB IC-rijtuig aan de lok met verder een geheel blauwe set Tsjechische Eurofirma rijtuigen passeert de trein hier over het stadsviaduct van Königstein op weg naar Bad Schandau.
Thanks to Flickr-user Tricky92 who showed us some pictures of the difficult to find-trail to this fotolocation above Königstein, we could actually find it quite easily now. Unfortunately it was a quiet thursdaymorning so not many freighttrains were passing. Eurocity 173 always shows up so here it is with the ČD 371 004 in the front passing Königstein on the way to Bad Schandau, Prague and Budapest.
