A Thursday Walk sorta kinda. Much of my Thursday was spent in a car, but I also walked a bit near here...so this counts under Utata Rules as a Thursday Walk.

Bringing up the rear of the 63 car Q425 seen before this is a single ES44AC-H. The train has momentarily entered the town of Becket after crossing the West Branch of the Westfield River near MP 131.5 of CSXT's Berkshire Sub. The rear end of the westbound train is seen passing through the first of the two large cuts on opposing curves that make up the iconic location known to generations of fans as the Twin Ledges. These rock cuts date to 1911-1912 the year the New York Central embarked on massive modernization of the Boston and Albany route they had acquired less than a dozen years prior. Highlights of the multi year project in addition to the new cuts and bridges include Worcester's phenomenal Union Station, the grade separation project in that city and the boring of a second state line tunnel.

I was able to find a peephole through the weeds/grass so I could capture this mushroom. Also, I needed the flash to illuminate the underside of the cap. The rim of the cap is very thin and becomes white when backlit.

Last year, my friend Sarah gave me a crystal ball to play with, as she'd had some fun with her own. It's currently living as an ornament on the kitchen window, but feeling a bit creative recently, I took a photo of our garden with it!

This is a cropped photo of a view I really liked. I cropped it to remove some unsightly bins and signs.

Jerky Drive Thru in Discovery Bay, Washington. Photographed with a Leica III with a Leitz Elmar f/3.5 5cm lens. The film is York branded Ferrania/3M film that expired in May 2007. The box speed was 200 ISO but I shot it at 100.

A monochrome take of the last train I shot on the Port Road during my trip last month.

Before heading to the Landisville on Saturday I was rewarded with two Norfolk Southern trains on the former PRR electrified lines that radiated south and east from Enola Yard. First up was westbound empty coal train 593 (Conol Baltimore, MD to Shire Oaks, PA). They are seen here rolling up the double track Port Road Branch mainline beneath the still standing catenary poles that lost their wires after Conrail quit electrified freight ops in 1981. They seen here at at MP 41.4 and will hang a right in four miles and take the Royalton Branch on into Harrisburg.

To the left is Front Street that is lined with historic 19th centurt homes in the picturesque riverfront village. Incorporated in 1812 the community can trace its roots to 1727 when James Anderson made a lottery that laid out part of present-day Marietta and later David Cook laid another portion of present-day Marietta. The borough's name is an amalgamation of the first names of Mary Cook and Etta Anderson, the wives of those two first settlers.

June of 2021 saw the return of SRHC's C501 to grain trains on Standard Gauge when the locomotive went on hire to freight operator SSR.

Now back at home on interstate freight services, the trademark roar of C501 reverberates around North Eastern Melbourne as the C drowns out the sound of GM22, S311, 4911 & CLF3 at Airport West on SSR grain train 9677V to Oaklands. 12/6/21

Finally, almost at the end of this massive trip...

I thought it a good exercise to use my phone to shoot thru a prism. I like.
