I found this image in some old photos and I remember when I took this photo, it was bitterly cold evening and my last photography class. The view of Winnipeg was beautiful.

Well, it's Thursday, so I'll do a post that satisfies both #ThrowbackThursday and #HTT (Happy Truck Thursday) all in one post. Here's an old Ford sitting in front of one of the grain elevators in Tasco, KS from 2013.
Originally Taken: August 27, 2010

So it seems that once again I've left my monthly Throwback Thursday photo to the last possible moment. This seems to be turning into a routine for me. At least it's being done, right?
This photo was taken during my first 365 project in 2010. I really struggled through the project and I believe by this point I'd lost my mind. 365 photos of myself was extremely tedious and very taxing on my creativity. I'm sure that by the time this photo came around I was grasping onto any sort of background that would mask my desire for the sun to set on the project and start a new day.
Since doing that project I've learned a lot about photography, my style has changed and I see things differently. One thing remains consistent though, self portraits continue to provide me with ample frustration.
Somethings just never change.

#ThrowbackThursday to last September, when I had the opportunity to share the water with whales for the first time as part of my trip to French Polynesia. It's hard to describe just how large these animals are and still leaves me speechless thinking about this encounter. I was so captivated by the mother and her calf, that I completely missed a third whale passing directly underneath me.
“When I say I am intimately acquainted with every adobe in my studio, I mean it. I put them up. And as I felt the need for more room, I added another studio–-–one for display, one for painting, one for ceramics, one for living quarters.” Happy Throwback Thursday!

Throwback Thursday
This is me and my cousin, Jim back in 1963. I was 12 in this photo. It was taken in Northern Ontario in Canada.
#ThrowbackThursday to the former Severalls Lunatic Asylum- Built circa 1910, closed in 1997 and then hanging on for a further 20 years in a derelict state to become the largest remaining abandoned example in England, it is finally being demolished to make way for a large new housing development as is often the way with these hospitals.
Victorian asylums such as this would often feature these large, airy bay windows as it was believed that the light and fresh air in the countryside setting was good for the mood. Probably one of the most useful and least barbaric treatments used back then!
This shot was one from a few visits, taken around 3 years ago on a nice sunny day where 5 of us made our way round the site for about 4/5 hrs only to be caught by a friendly security guard whilst about to climb back over the 'widow maker' (Palisade fence) I was actually rather pleased we got caught as after a nasty accident with my finger on one of these fences, they're not my favourite thing in the world!

I remember this day so well, how could I forget ...
I was travelling with my family though the streets of London in Portobello, and since I was exhausted from walking, I awaited them browsing shops while I sat on this pin, lol :)
A picture I shared today on social media for Throwback Thursday. I took this shot in December 1988 using my original Konica camera (still working), and a close-up lens filter. I'd have to dig out the negatives to verify, but I'm almost certain the photo was taken with the same roll of Tri-X.
I was in high school at the time, and worked part-time at a nearby CVS. The store offered send-out developing service, and I usually sent in a roll every week.
According to one website, the price of US $3.19 in 1988 is equivalent to $8.18 in 2023 dollars - still cheaper than a 24-exposure roll sells for today.
for #ThrowbackThursday ~ The Cowboy Junkies recorded their album "The Trinity Session" at this church in November, 1987, located in the heart of Toronto. (I'd been looking for the CD for a while but couldn't find it.) Then 20 years later, 2007, the Cowboy Junkies returned and made "Trinity Revisited". One morning in April of '05 I stepped into this Church, was in awe and stayed for a while.
(While there I met some homeless men using the soup kitchen who wanted me to take their photo together, which I did. Then we got talking and it turned out many years before I used to teach one of the men's relatives...it's a small world. Anyway, I gave them some money, which left me short for the shopping I wanted to do but that didn't matter. I left feeling more light-hearted.)
P.S. As soon as I got to the Eaton's Centre, I went right to Chapters to buy a coffee and sitting right on top of a collection of books and music CD's was "The Trinity Session", on sale.
So now whenever I play it, I think of the Church of the Holy Trinity and the people who call it a Sanctuary.
