* I am pretty excited to have taken this shot . While it is a pretty standard bird shot taken through glass in our kitchen. It is the first time in over 25 years that we have had a Thrush in our garden . When we first came to the house we saw them fairly often then they vanished . It took about three attempts to get a half decent shot it shows up most days but heads for the undergrowth in the garden but on this occasion it landed in one of our Ivy hedges . Welcome back to the Thrush the best song bird in the English garden

Sadly this bird is on the RSPB Red list

1 Species is globally threatened.

2 Historical population decline in UK during 1800–1995.

Severe (at least 50%) decline in UK breeding population over last 25 years, or longer-term period (the entire period used for assessments since the first BoCC review, starting in 1969).

It made my day photographing this fox (through glass) in my daughters garden. My daughter wish they stay away :)

A House sparrow taken through my kitchen window pretty common I know but they are fun to watch and lift the spirits

Talking of lifting ones spirits the poem read by the young poet Laureate Andrea Gorman at President Bidens inauguration was a delight to hear and see. Energy, youth and grace combined her reading, she has star quality. if you missed it there is a link below

it's so interesting to look back on what one made over a decade ago...this was one of my own favourites....from my obsessions with premises undergoing refurbishments....not sure what that says about me.

Happy weekend to all...enjoy your time off!

Talkeetna is the location for the merger of three rivers: the Susitna, the Talkeetna, and the Chulitna. They tend to be wide and shallow and spread out even further than usual during the spring melt. The route of the Alaskan RR can be seen at the far left of the picture.

In the "through glass" series.

*** Well this is my first photograph of a Long tailed Tit , I must say given the circumstances I am fairly pleased with it . It was sitting in the Cherry tree about half way down the garden it was taken from our bedroom window, handheld and through double glazing. In fact it was too far away for me to see the bird properly with my eyes so it was only when I looked at the images that I realised what I had photographed . Long Tailed Tits are fairly rare visitors to our garden
