It is said that the American Avocet brings elegance in the bird world to a new level. This image taken in the mangroves of the Ten Thousand Islands in SW Florida highlights this.

I post similar image like this before, but I think I prefer this one with more clouds.

🎶 BOYCE AVENUE - A THOUSAND YEARS - CHRISTINA PERRI COVER

Heart beats fast

Colors and promises

How to be brave?

How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?

But watching you stand alone

All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow

One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you

Darling, don't be afraid

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

Time stands still

Beauty in all she is

I will be brave

I will not let anything take away

What's standing in front of me

Every breath

Every hour has come to this

One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you

Darling, don't be afraid

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you

Time has brought your heart to me

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

One step closer

One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you

Darling don't be afraid

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you

Time has brought your heart to me

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words

The rookery at Avery Island, LA is known as "Bird City" and was created as a bird colony in the 1890's.

There are platforms built over the water (above the alligators) and lined with the locally grown bamboo.

This forms the base for the nests where the Egrets will breed and raise their little ones....

Each Spring...it becomes home to tens of thousands of birds, with a particular emphasis on Great White Egrets.

It's amazing to watch them nest-building, breeding, preening, & tending to their young. Such a sight to see !

Thanks for taking a look.

Have a great Saturday and beginning to our Memorial Day Weekend. It'll be a special one for sure..........

Ten Thousand Years Wont Save Your Life

Just a little refinement on a Sunday afternoon. This was shot at Boldt Castle in Thousand Islands, NY.

The Thang Long Water Theater offers one of the most distinctive performances of Vietnamese culture: the theater with water puppets. It is an ancient art that was practiced in the Red River delta more than a thousand years ago and has lasted until today. The origin of this theater dates back centuries (11th century) where they began to be very common throughout the country with theater companies that traveled to towns and cities. Since ancient times, the theme of these representations has always been the same, telling the scenes of the daily life of the local people and serving to orally transmit the history of the country, with its legends and myths.

I went back to Miami and finally got some nice perspectives of Dame Zaha Hadid's building. Previously the sidewalk views were closed due to construction.

The lines and curves are spectacular, as you can see.

(I'll visit when I can. Those 13 hour drives are exhausting, especially in a U-Haul)

A Thousand Years - Sting

A thousand years, a thousand more

A thousand times a million doors to eternity

I may have lived a thousand lives, a thousand times

An endless turning stairway climbs

To a tower of souls

If it takes another thousand years, a thousand wars

The towers rise to numberless floors in space

I could shed another million tears, a million breaths

A million names but only one truth to face

A million roads, a million fears

A million suns, ten million years of uncertainty

I could speak a million lies, a million songs

A million rights, a million wrongs in this balance of time

But if there was a single truth, a single light

A single thought, a singular touch of grace

Then following this single point, this single flame

This single haunted memory of your face

I still love you

I still want you

A thousand times the mysteries unfold themselves

Like galaxies in my head

And on and on the mysteries unwind themselves

Eternities still unsaid

'Til you love me

Ciel de Lozère..

.

Stars by the thousand.

One step closer

I have died everyday waiting for you

Darling don't be afraid I have loved you

For a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more...

“I've lived my life walking through a dream

For I knew that I would find this moment supreme

A night of bliss and tender sighs

And the smiling down of a thousand eyes

A night of bliss and tender sighs

And the smiling down of a thousand eyes

The Night has a Thousand Eyes !”

Michael Wolf

Life in cities

Michael Wolf (born 1954 in Munich) is a German artist and photographer lives and works in Hong Kong and Paris. His work focuses on the life in big cities.

For the first time ever, working in close collaboration with the Hague Museum of Photography, the Rencontres d’Arles is presenting a selective overview of the autonomous works created by Wolf. Wolf’s key 21st-century theme is “life in cities”, as he observes it in vast metropolises like Tokyo, Hong Kong and Chicago. The striking feature of these impressive series is the changing points of view adopted by the artist in order to show the complexity of modern city life.

The magnum opus of the exhibition is The Real Toy Story installation (2004), featuring over 20,000 plastic “Made in China” toys found by him in junk markets and second-hand shops in the United States. Amid this overwhelming array of mass-produced stuff for kids, Michael Wolf shows sympathetic portraits of individual Chinese assembly-belt workers producing toys to satisfy the manic worldwide demand for cheap consumer goods.

A n unimaginable exhibition ! He has also captured thousands of people living in 32 feet square ! After this visit, we're very happy to come back home !

As mentioned on episode 01, Thousand Islands consists of a string of 110 islands stretching 45 km (28 mi) north into the Java Sea at West Jakarta Bay and north of Banten Province. The beauty level of Thousand Islands are vary: not beautiful, mediocre, beautiful, very beautiful, and more. The farther to north, the more beautiful the island become. I've explored some islands of Thousand Islands and this is the northest and most beautiful island of thousands island in my opinion :)

See you next week, or after next week. Have a great weekend my friends :)

Thousand Islands Trip Episode 08 - Beautiful Thousands Island

This is a Venetian Pitcher made on the Island of Murano. It is a popular Murano technique called Millefiori (a thousand flowers) which was invented by Murano Glass masters centuries ago. It is crafted entirely by hand and is created from hundreds of unique colorful millefiori pieces fused together under high temperature in a special furnace. We were fortunate to take a tour to this glass factory and watch the masters at work. This little vase is 5" tall and 4" at it's widest part. This shot is taken looking into the pitcher. New International Version

The Thousand Years

20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

Have you ever looked in my eyes?

I guess you didn't.

Because all the stories are inside my eyes.

A thousand words can't be tell, even with myself.

Here's a "tasty" image for you today of some Red Vines. No, not the candy, I'm afraid. These vines love to grow along chainlink fences, but create the most delightful subjects come autumn. It's not just the brilliant red color (though that helps), but also the great contrast of the dark fence that creates a great amount of contrast. Though the focus system of the 5D Mark IV doesn't seem radically different on paper, it is actually vastly improved in every area, and it's a treat to finally have DPAF on a full frame body. This image was featured in Flickr's Explore at position 17

Third of my reflection theme series. These past few weeks have been incredibly rewarding in creating my reflection theme series. With this particular piece, I've been able to appreciate the serenity and grandeur of the moon, as it casts its enchanting spell on the night sky. Its power to transform the atmosphere into something mesmerizing is simply awe-inspiring.
