I think most people see sailboats and think of a relaxing endeavour, soaking up the sunshine as the soft winds blow, the vessels like immense swans gliding along the water blissfully.
Perhaps that’s actually the case for most folks out on their boats, however, my experience with sailing was quite different. I was only ever on a sailboat a handful of times but each of those were with Barnacle Bill. Bill (his real name) was my father and he bought a sailboat shortly after I was married so sailing wasn’t something with which I grew up. That meant I hadn’t been properly trained to be a sailor and neither had Norm.
Our first time out Dad issued the rules and we were more than willing to learn and abide. Yet as the outing progressed Bill’s barking grew more and more intense.
“Don’t sit there!”
“Grab that line!”
(What line? What do you want me to do with it?)
And so it went.
There seemed to be a very real possibility that we were going to be keelhauled or, at the very least, made to walk the plank. If you ever saw the ‘Friends’ episode where Rachel was trying to teach Joey how to sail you’ll have a clear idea of what I’m trying to describe.
I do know that his high anxiety was his concern for everyone’s safety and thus was quite forgivable but truth be told ever since those experiences I have been quite content to simply get the occasional photograph of a sailboat. :-)

I think the square crop works well with the geometry here. I also have a wide version uploaded. Not sure which one I like better. This one highlights the details the Z lens is capable of picking up. Nikon Z5; Z24-120. Katsuura, Fukuoka.
I think Carolin took this photograph, with her phone. Edits by me, in Lightroom. I mostly used gradient filters to balance the sky and foreground exposure & shadow levels.

I'm checking in with this upload to say I'm still around. Work has been busy, so I'll be uploading less over the next few weeks.
I've taking this shot during a recent trip to Snowy Mountains and Mount Kosciusko. To get the extra long exposure I had to slap on my polarizer, which was the only filter a brought with me.
Thank you so very much! Front page and explore!

(Wiki)

Green is Life
Green signifies abundant in nature, growth, renewal, health and environment.
Green is the color of nature and ferlility.
Grass green is the most restful color.
Green symbolizes, self respect and well being.
On the flip side, green is jealousy or envy ...(green-eyed monster),,,,,
This week we spent some time doing bird surveys for the BirdLife Australia "Aussie Bird Count" . This involved recording bird sightings and numbers of birds in 20 minute blocks, logged against locations.
We were surprised to see a pair of magpie geese a bit further south than the zone specified in my bird book. I think they are planning to nest. I hope so, we will go back for another look in a couple of weeks.

even if the broth is still so dark and impenetrable, the good light still manages to be *reflected (even if only from a very thin surface) ... perhaps an encouragement for the present time ...
;-) ...
* "reflected", in German also stands for "to think about"...

I don't know why you think... you,
soldier, that I can hate you... me,
if we are the same person
I,
you.
You are poor, so am I;
I am from below, you are;
where did you get... you,
soldier, I hate you... me?
It hurts me that sometimes... you
forget who I am .. me;
By God!!!, yes I... I'm you,
the same as you are... me.
But not for that... I
I have to hate you... you;
if we are the same thing,
I,
you,
I don't know why you think... you,
soldier, I hate you... me.
We will meet... me and you,
together on the same street
shoulder to shoulder, you and me,
without hating us, neither I nor you,
but we will know very well, you and I,
where are we going... me and you...
I don't know why you think... you,
soldier, I hate you... me!
