Background of ThinkPad's boot screen can be replaced with user made image. For instruction, refer to README.TXT or BIOS_LOGO.TXT included in BIOS update files.

The error screen is actually awesome, the duck flaps its wings as you move the cursor around!!
This baby has a "screaming fast mobile Pentium II processor"... reckon I might be able to get it running Ubuntu at the w/e.
To use this image,
1. Find your favorite logo at Lenovo's Photostream, "Logos" set.

2. Merge this image and the logo using Photoshop or other software. ThinkPad logo engraved on ThinkPad's chassis rotates 37 degrees.
3. Decrease its color to 16 and save it in BMP format as "logo.bmp."
4. Copy the image to same folder as BIOS update files. Run logo.bat and make sure LOGO.MOD is created.
5. Invoke WINUPTP.EXE and approve applying custom startup image.
