I was very motivated when taking these photos. I had an idea in my head, that i thought of almost a year ago, and i was finally able to implement it, and create some truly likable photos.
Me and my two cousins Alice and Elaine drove to the valley with my Photo-wagon. We had a wonderful time joking, and taking photos. I was not stressed in any way, i just had fun.
Ken Yuel lent me one of his lenses, and i asked if anyone wanted to go take photos, and i got Elaine and Alice to try it out on. in this photo i was standing nearly 100 feet from them, discreetly taking photos as they were conversing.
Strobist: I had a flash that was snooted in front of them, this helped create a very pleasing light on their faces, it helped bring out their faces and separate them from all the grass.

South Canadian River bed, Pittsburg County Oklahoma.... Another shot taken on the river in August.... it was an amazing sunset! Thanks for looking and have a great week!!!
I found this small patch of wild sunflowers yesterday afternoon. There was quite a bit of cloud cover so I was very happy when the sun peeked out and gave me a little bit of sidelight. Hope you all have a great week.
Standing In Snow, i have shot this tree a few times over the past year at different times and with different weather conditions. This was a target i had in mind as soon as we got some decent snow and it worked with me being off work. Today was that day, the snow, a lovely morning with some great light.
yet another one from a beautiful and never-ending morning at Vermilion lakes last summer, in Banff, Canada. the water looks still but there was a little breeze, and a slight long exposure managed to smooth out the reflections. ... I've already posted a couple of photos from the same morning but at a different part of the lake.
do see large (press L), I don't think you'll regret it!
many of you had questions about my previous photo, it was shot in bright evening sunlight, and not at night, the processing makes it appear darker
... thanks very much for your visits, comments and faves on my photos, it's much appreciated!

When you lose touch with inner stillness, you lose touch with yourself.
When you lose touch with yourself, you lose yourself in the world.
Your innermost sense of self, of who you are, is inseparable from stillness.
This is the I Am that is deeper than name and form.
~ Eckhart Tolle
I recently got the chance to spend almost a week in a white out in the Palouse. I have tried several times to achieve this but for many different reasons it never materialized. Finally I got my big break and I could not have asked for better conditions. Lots and lots of snow and finally got some sun on the last two days. Thanks to Ryan McGinty for graciously showing me some of his favorite spots as he knows more then anyone I know when it comes to the Palouse.
Thanks for looking and appreciate and feedback

True intelligence operates silently. Stillness is where creativity and solutions to problems are found. Eckhart Tolle.
Eckhart Tolle born Ulrich Leonard Tölle, is a German-born spiritual teacher and self-help author who resides in Canada. He is best known as the author of "The Power of Now" and "A New Earth": Awakening to Your Life's Purpose.
After being recommended by Oprah Winfrey, his first book, The Power of Now, reached The New York Times Best Seller list in 2000. The same happened to his 2005 book A New Earth.
Ulrich Leonard Tölle was born in Lünen, a small town north of Dortmund in the Ruhr region of Germany in 1948. He felt afraid and anxious growing up in post-war Germany, where he played in bombed-out buildings. He later stated that pain "was in the energy field of the country."
At the age of 13, he moved to Spain to live with his father, who did not insist that he attend high school, so Tolle elected to study literature, astronomy, and languages at home. At 15, he was "heavily influenced" by a gift of the five spiritual books by the German mystic Joseph Anton Schneiderfranken. Source Wikipedia

The slag crater Kerid is the northernmost one of the crater row called Tjarnarholar. It is elliptic in shape, 270 m long, 170 m wide, and 55 m deep. The pond in it is 7-10 m deep, depending on the ground water level of the area.
This crater row along with the cluster of larger craters further east, called Seydisholar, and the lava field are about 6000 years old. In 1990, a concert was held on a raft on the crater pond with the audience sitting in the grassy slopes inside it. This was repeated on large rubber boats in August 2004 and 2005.
I set out on a 4 day snowshoe trip into the Sierra backcountry (Thousand Island Lake) but was fairly certain I'd be turned back at some point. Mostly I wanted to get a feel for that type of trip so I could get more serious about it in the future. About a third of the way in it became unmanageable (poor snow conditions, no ice axe, hard route...) so I decided to head for the car and go here and then Owens Valley. Glad I did - driving around in comfort and getting scenery like this is hard to beat.
