The Church of Agia Theodora in Thessaloniki is the Holy Monastery of Saint Theodora, which was originally founded in the 9th century.
The original building was destroyed by the Great Fire of Thessaloniki in 1917, leaving only the bell tower standing. The current church was constructed starting in 1935 and the westwingwing of the monastery was completed in 1974.

La petite Java est née le 17 octobre à la Ménagerie du Jardin des Plantes. Un événement rare pour cette espèce en danger d’extinction. C’est la première depuis 13 ans pour le zoo du Muséum national d’histoire naturelle (MNHN), et la seule, cette année en France, d’un orang-outan de Bornéo. Une espèce protégée, menacée par la disparition progressive des forêts tropicales humides de son Indonésie et de sa Malaisie d’origine.
« En 20 ans, les orangs-outans de Bornéo ont perdu 80 % de leur territoire et la population s’est réduite de moitié, aujourd’hui estimée entre 50 000 et 60 000 », expliquent les responsables du Muséum, qui participe également à des plans d’élevage internationaux. « L’espèce est inscrite sur la liste rouge de l’Union internationale pour la conservation de la nature (UICN), en tant qu’espèce en danger critique d’extinction ». Chaque naissance est d’autant plus précieuse.
