This vista was breathtaking, almost literally due to the air cooled by glaciers rushing down the valley. There's a scene in the "Secret Life of Walter Mitty" where the title character skateboards down this very road that leaves you inspired and in awe. I felt lucky to have stumbled upon this place without looking for it, as that film helped re-ignite the desire to travel to Iceland in the first place.

365 Day Photo Project — Day 141, May 19th, 2012. After spending the day in downtown with my friend Malinda and her fella, we parted ways early, and I took to the streets of Downtown. I haven't been down there in years, and never alone, so I did some wondering.

After I was exhausted, and heading back, I decided to skip the subway entrance, and walk a bit further, when I ran into a movie set. After hanging out for a bit, I found out that it was a Ben Stiller movie, although he wasn't on set. I got the shot from two different angles, which involved a man on a roof of a moving bus, and a guy on a motorcycle, with a second guy on a skateboard holding onto him. You can see from the ad on the bus that it's a comedy, and there was also a dump truck with a demolition company on it that was pretty silly.

Anyway, I'm exhausted from the day, so I'll spare the details of the great day with my friends. Let's just say I had a good time, explored several new areas, and hit some new coffee shops. Glad to have made it out!

Just a quick aside, the blurry dude in the foreground is one of the traffic/crowd control people that keep the set closed during takes. Having been on 5-6 movie sets since working in New York, I have a huge respect for them. Their job is hard. They often seem to be independent of the studio (consultants, like myself), and people give them a hard time. I really think there is extra pressure on them to make sure the filming goes smoothly. If you ever see one on the street, take extra care to cooperate with them, and show them respect. They bust their ass, and not always with public cooperation.

Well that’s month one complete. On the drive home I was trying to think of something special to celebrate getting here but once I got home I realised that I still had to do the stuff I failed to achieve at the weekend so I opted for this simple arrangement. I posted a photo of books which included a copy of The Thurber Carnival last week. A book of delightful short stories from the wit that is James Thurber. That one was my school version but I have an older hardback version which is lovely. Someone made mention of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty so I had a wee read at it again. And it still makes me laugh out loud. I can’t help seeing the comic genius Danny Kaye in the original movie from the 1940s 😂 and a laughing Bart seemed to be a good fit for a photo. #031 #365photochallenge #365days #365photoproject #waltermitty #thesecretlifeofwaltermitty

Un bon moment au cinéma.

I've been doing these outtake layers for a while now. Sort of my version of a digital negative if you will. Basically just a random layer used for the final edit. I find that most of the time I like these better than the final image.
