Probably the oldest and most iconic monument of Lisbon, the São Jorge Castle is a historic landmark of the Portuguese Nation that was the scene of many battles for the independence of Portugal.
Today this monument is a wonderful place to pass an afternoon and has fantastic views over Lisbon.
This is the upper floor of the Palace of Charles V in Granada, which gives to the interior patio.
This amazing architecture of this building was a complete antithesis to me, although its totally square outside, it's interior it's a perfect circle.
Again, not allowed to use tripod so had to improvise.

The journey can be fun. Roll down the windows (only if the skies are clear) and let your hair blow in the wind. I miss the days of no A/C and you had those little triangle windows up front.
Happy Saturday
"She said: What is history?
And he said: History is an angel being blown backwards into the future
He said: History is a pile of debris
And the angel wants to go back and fix things
To repair the things that have been broken
But there is a storm blowing from Paradise
And the storm keeps blowing the angel backwards into the future
And this storm, this storm is called Progress"
- Laurie Anderson, "The Dream Before (for Walter Benjamin)"

The large white Beverweerd Castle (also simply Beverweert) stands out starkly against its green, wooded backdrop. With its battlements and massive towers, Beverweerd is an impressive sight. The island on which the castle stands lies directly on the winding Kromme Rijn river and is accessible from two sides via an elegant wrought-iron bridge spanning the moat. The main entrance to the grounds is recognizable by a monumental gate, also of wrought iron, which encloses the grounds. Near the main entrance stands the former coach house. The neo-Gothic castle, with its two towers, is situated in a parkland of approximately 7 hectares. The entire grounds encompass no less than 417 hectares, consisting primarily of agricultural land. Beverweerd also includes eleven farms, recognizable by their ochre, green, and red shutters. Beverweerd Castle dates back to a medieval residential tower that over the centuries developed into a more or less square residential castle. At the request of H.J.C.E. Baron Van Heeckeren, the castle was transformed between 1835 and 1862 into a regular neo-Gothic building. The park was reorganized in a landscaped style, probably by Leonard Antonij Springer. The coach house was built in 1867. This was later converted into a girls' pavilion when an educational institution was established in Beverweerd. Around 1960, a number of new buildings were also erected in the park for this purpose.

Turn the lights down let me think clearly
Everything is such a blur these days
Made the right sound
Finally you hear me
Think I'm feeling ok

When my Dad passed away we found this key in one of his drawers. To this day we don't know the story behind it? Since we moved from Italy to Canada, we think it belonged to a door there, that meant something to him. Sadly we'll never know.
I am able to display it in my Dad's honour at home, in this beautiful frame I found.
Oh I beg you, can I follow?
Oh I ask you, why not always?
Be the ocean, where I unravel
Be my only, be the water where I'm wading
You're my river running high
Run deep, run wild
I, I follow, I follow you
Deep sea baby, I follow you
I, I follow, I follow you
Dark doom honey, I follow you
He a message, I'm the runner
He the rebel, I'm the daughter waiting for you
You're my river running high
Run deep, run wild
I, I follow, I follow you
Deep sea baby, I follow you
I, I follow, I follow you
Dark doom honey, I follow you

The train as old as it is, never really gets ole. There is something magical about the train since its inception that we all love.

“At last I was ready to let go. I thought it would make me feel sad, but instead there is a great sense of freedom … a lightness of being seldom felt. I was holding on to threads of a past life … dusty cobwebs; brittle with age; they served no-one well. Once we walked hand in hand; side by side, but our paths now have taken different directions and I smile happily for him as I watch him go. He has found a happy ending; one that I could not give him and a great peace has settled around my shoulders; replacing the heaviness of responsibility I had previously felt for his happiness. I continue to declutter my house and my life and the space left behind is not empty, but the essence of true tranquility … “ - excerpt from a short story called “Goodbye to H” by AP
“I am and always have been a rebel, never caving into peer pressure; standing up for what I believe in; fighting against injustices; for those who cannot defend themselves and still it is possible to remain true to my inner core. These days my approach is softer; my words are gentler, because it really is not about who shouts the loudest. Even the stillest, smallest voice can be heard above the cacophony of sound in a noisy world … the secret is not really a secret at all … it is faith … it is hope … it is love.“ - AP

MAKE ME SMILE – STEVE HARLEY & COCKNEY REBEL
Last night I lay awake and silently listened
the window open; I heard the sea breeze sigh
I thought I heard the sound of a bittern
above the gulls and rolling tide
the moon looked down and smiled at me
her glow mercurial lit my face
I swear I heard the sands sweet whispers
weaving a dream like silken lace
oh what a tangled blue web you wove
spinning your tales and all your woes
I am free of you now; I'm letting you go
what comes in with the ocean cleanses all that it knows
no longer do I wander up and down
looking for signs; searching for clues
I know everything now; more than you know
you were never the one; you could never be true
still I will wonder what's out there for me
and pray I will know it when it rolls in from the sea
a message in a bottle; a heart-shaped pebble
a sweet cockleshell may play Cockney Rebel
I'll hold it up to my ear; hear it's secrets intent
for the sound of my loved one and all that he sent
he'll tell me he loves me and mean it this time
I'll love him forever; until I run out of rhyme
he will light up my face from now 'til the end
never cause me sorrow;
always be there tomorrow
a small satisfied smile hovers on my soft lips
as I succumb to my dreams and time is let slip.

365: the 2022 Edition 222/365
This is the first time I have taken my camera out in so long I am ashamed to admit! I have been busy! Taking time for the things for me that give me peace, has been few and far between. It was nice to get out with a friend and snap some shots of rural Michigan. I have also tried my hand at a new editing program, Aurora HDR. I am not usually a fan of HDR, but trying something new is one of my new year resolutions. Why not give it a whirl?
I hope all of you are well! :)
