How did you start your morning? I had an early start and some difficulties dragging my better half and myself out of the bed, for some reason it was a stretch but we did it anyway! Just a few energy boosters later and half an hour of travels we arrived downtown stocked to see what morning light/city lights cocktail will be served today. And it was not so exciting so I will post one of my older frames to make up for it ;) What do you think?

The 52 weeks theme is ''I spy with my little eye something beginning with M''

M is for Macro or Middle (of the gerbera) depending on your preference

How did you start your morning? I had an early start and some difficulties dragging my better half and myself from the bed, for some reason it was a stretch but we did it anyway! Just a few energy boosters later and half an hour of travels we arrived downtown stocked to see what morning light/city lights cocktail will be served today. I had one camera, one lens and a drone on me, it is a combo that I’m getting pretty accustomed lately. I found that putting less weight on my back and having less options to choose from leaves me with more energy to run around and time to focus on the actual subject. What do you think?

ODC "The Next Level"

I need to do more night photography!

Solar lamp in our neighbour's garden casts its light on the surrounding snow. This is a colour shot.

Best when viewed on black.

If you manage expectations properly your bottom line will follow suit.

ODC, The Next Level

Technically speaking this is definitely not about going up a level - too many tasks to complete today, but I will bear this challenge in mind and hopefully try something new on the technical front.

However, this IS about going to "The Next Level" with taking Selfies (which is way out of my comfort zone) sans any editing or effects apart from cropping and sharpening. It's also about hamming it up in front of the camera. Although nowhere near Natalie's hilarious antics in front of the camera this being silly thing is, once again, out of my comfort zone so I'd like to think that I've gone up a level with this set up.

Oh, and the red nose is in aid of Red Nose Day (www.rednoseday.com), which takes place tomorrow. If you live in the UK and haven't got your Red Nose yet - buy one now! Mine arrived today and I can confirm that it's impossible to wear it for more than 1 minute before discomfort sets in, but this year's gonks are so cute you have to do it :-)

ODC= The Next Level

Well there is something I've been wanting to try and it seems like today was a good time to push me into it. I have seen photos taken using a CD and I really have no idea how to do what I've seen but this is what I came up with. Quite a contrast between the gazillion colors of the sun reflecting on the CD and the softness of the flower in the middle. Not really what I wanted but it's what I got:)

Try it on black, looks kinda neat.

In case you are wondering I shot this through the middle of the CD.

ODC1: THE NEXT LEVEL. Very beginning attempt at HDR- 3 shots (one of my to do's this year).. with the trial version of photomatrix.

Week 24/52

my next level in photography is to take pictures in M mode (I have had several photo courses last days, something like for beginners ) :-) not sure if it be better but probably will be more advanced usage of my camera :-)

Thank you for your comments and nice words, I'm very appreciate this:-)

push me further than anything I could read in a book....

I took this on a whim while he was climbing the stairs at my parents.

He is too fast

so I caught him on the first landing

I was more worried he would see me and try to come back down the stairs than on composition.

He is stubborn that way...lol

we all love flowers

ODC - THE NEXT LEVEL is the topic for Thursday 14 March 2013

Maybe its the next level in your refrigerator, the next level of that building over there, or the next level in your yardstick (if your yardstick has levels).

It could be -- yes.

But -- I doubt it.

How about the Next Level you'd like to see your photography move toward?

What is the shot you haven't taken that you want to take? Maybe you've been telling yourself you don't have the skills, the opportunity, the gear, or even just the time. Well now is the time. And the gear and skills are what you have available.

So, for this challenge you could create an image that shows where you'd like to be with your photography (and maybe some of the tools you'll need?) ...

OR --

you can take this as the challenge to push yourself there now ... !!

DO the impossible shot you've been putting off. BE the photographer you want to be.

Maybe you'll only get an inch closer with this challenge ...

... and it'll still be an inch closer than you were before this challenge.

Even seriously thinking through where you really want to be -- whether its a huge leap or a tiny stepping stone -- thinking through it will help you get a little closer.

And one more thing ... what was it? Oh yes --

And Have Fun ... !!

I took my photos of the bottlebrush home and experimented with some editting - I would like to be a better artist not just a photographer - I'm not saying that this image is very artistic but it might be the beginning

ODC Theme: The Next Level

If it wasn't for fire restrictions currently in force, I'd try the *steel-wool-on-fire-sparky-twirly-thingy* but instead you get a ladder which is used to reach "The next level" :) It originally belonged to my father and has a million memories, it'll never get thrown out. The spiders all love me for it.lol

(also could be used for ODC "Up" theme)

Cropped, unsharp mask applied and compressed for Flickr. Enjoy...

Last night, Mike and I went to Toledo for dinner and to check out the Hollywood Casino. We couldn't resist this cool old hotel while driving around the Toledo area- it is now apartments. This building was built in 1929 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. Quite a few famous people stayed in this hotel, including Amelia Earhart in 1933.

I have always wanted to do a levitation shot, but feared the amount of work in Photoshop. This shot shows the poorman's approach to levitation, is so out of camera, and involved no post-processing, except minor contrast enhancement.

The trick: a relative low PoV, a wet spot on the first tile and me standing on the next tile.

I am not completely convinced that it works, but it has to do until I have time to try the next level.

ODC 2 - Theme (14-03-2013): The next level

Finally got down to assembling a light stencil apparatus. It doesn't work perfectly yet (still a little "overspray", basement too dark, couldn't find my remote), but today's first test shots were quite ok. Wanna know how this is done? Check out truemarmalade's work!

Henry is twelve weeks old today!

It has been all about the tongue poking and superhero pose this past while. He babbles a lot and is starting to squeal and laugh! He is such a happy baby and a great sleeper so far! At twelve weeks he weighs just about 17lbs and is 25 inches long. A big bouncing baby boy

The Next Level for ODC

I love my country. I think wherever it is you live, you should share the same pride in the roots you set down, in the people that will become your friends and family, and in the life you lead. There is no country on earth that is perfect and America is no different, but if we waited on things to become perfect before we could love them, then none of us would ever be able to fully love anything. Here in America thanks to the blood, sweat, and tears of those that have come before me, I am able to live free. Freedom is something that one can never take for granted because not everyone is able to say the same. When I see the red, white, and blue of this flag, it signifies that wherever I am, I am home, and that is exactly where I am supposed to be.

This was taken with three mirrors and a set of Baoding Balls to get quite an interesting effect. You can see the balls reflected back in themselves, reflected from one to the other and from below. These Chinese Baoding therapeutic balls have small bell chimes in them and as you rotate the balls in the palm of your hand, you are able to work your tendons and joints to what is quite a melodic sound as they lightly clink together.

Tighter shot to connect the room together. Every Nintendo Power at the bottom.

Sign for sale in a small shop in a restaurant/bakery in Pine Mountain, GA called The Bakery and Cafe at Rose Cottage. Taken because I love this quote from the book, but also taken to meet Our Daily Challenge: The Next Level. I always feel like I am doing something wrong if I take a picture in a store or shop, like I am stealing something. I also find the quote itself a new level, just in what it says.

Better shot of the 'rig'. No, that isn't a working NES on top of a broken NES (... you might be a redneck gamer...), but it's just there to support the pink PAL PS2.

The shoe door. Shoe holders make good controller storage.

Probably could have deleted this one... eh heh.
